IMHO he failed to do all of this... who the fuck cares if his track selection is great? who cant play great tracks?? lmao thats just funny cuz ANY musically inclined TA can play 'great tracks'..it aint about that.. as a professional dj, your supposed to make your set flow, as if its one looong song from beginning to end.. no matter how phat your track selection is, if a track is introduced at the wrong time, it kills everything.. AND on top of that, if your mixing is off, thats like shooting yourself in the same foot twice... it just doesnt work tryin to pull off a gig with ONLY 'good track selection' as your weapon... tiesto never seemed like he was 'into it' friday night.. but i dont give a fuck what was bothering him, if he signed a contract to play in NYC and charge $40 a head, u fucking better be on point... ehh whatever, no more tiesto for me...
I agree with this 100%. #1 or #100, if you are playing for people and you know that there are people like us out there listening to everything, you need to bring it and show us that you belong up there. Honestly, I have a long way to go before I can play a long set in front of thousands of people, but I can program a set just as good, if not better. Maybe it's cockiness or maybe he just isn't into giving the fans a real experience. Some DJs are (....PVD...), some aren't. Tiesto did not bring it to New York and I could give a rats ass what was going on in his world...he is up there playing...play the way we are expecting. I had littel confidence in the stupid voting poll and the reasons why DJS were ranked where they are. I will no longer spend money on DJ mag to see who is #1 and I will no longer spend my money on DJs that just don't have it. Armin didn't do it for me and neither did Tiesto. Just prooves that PVD is tops and he will stay that way for a long time to come.

I just do it exactly the way I enjoy listening to it. This is most of the time it is with banging beats. It is even with a soft thing, a soft melodic idea, or whatever. I still like to have it rocking. Keep in mind what this music is made for, first of all. Its not made to be easy listening on the radio. Its not made to be easy listening in television. Its actually kick ass in the club. This is what music is. This is the purpose of this art form...to listen to it and let the frequencies actually blow you away. --Paul Van Dyk

Of course the polls are world wide and not only in New York. You definately can come into New York and blow up if you are not PVD. That is not the case. I am basing my opinions on the show that I have seen in New York that have been disappointing and PVD has never come up short in my book. I never said that Tiesto is not a good DJ nor did I say that I don't like his music. My main point is that his attitude this night did not make him look any better than he played. As a top DJ, attitude and presentation are just as important as the technical side of the show. PVD is a bit more humble and a bit more classy at his shows, not only in NY, but all over the world. He is world class, Tiesto should take note, or he will find his popolarity slip as time goes on (I honestly hope it doesn't).
