Now any of you that wish to harp on me for hating paul van dyk, can kiss my white ass because I do own all his albums cept I don't plan to buy this.
It was a disappointment from the start because Paul decided to go more vocal than normal. Paul Van Dyk was probably one of the greatest ever emotional trance producers of all time. The stuff that took me into cloud nine over the years was his non vocal stuff and this album was a total letdown. I'm not even comparing it to Out There And Back but this album could have done better. Spellbound was a letdown and Jan Johnston is just getting annoying...I felt that was a bad track. The album did have it's moments (i.e That's Life) but the album failed to impress me and I wish paul would go back to producing better emotional trance tracks. Frankly I don't see why crush is such a popular song because it also fails to move me. Paul will hopefully wake the fuck up at some point when he decides to released VDT II if ever and if he decides to release avenue of stars which I would love to hear.

I agree. With some of the tracks it's as if he's trying to make up for a lack of melody and production with vocals instead.
I still think there are some great productions on the album, but it could have been better on this very point.

Paul Van Dyk is an utter genius...just some of his stuff has been below par lately. That's life was simply amazing but most of that album lacked something..not quite sure what...but I do know Paul is capable of better...then again....all artists have their struggles..it was amazing that it took this long...for paul to hit this. I think paul should have done some more emotional trance songs without vocals....then again...seems everyone is doing vocals these days...some are pretty poor....I think they need to remind themselves of the 1998-1999 vocal trance...when they used vocals effectively.

Homage
i'll drown you in kisses (3x)
i know i miss so many magical moments
when i'm away from you
i miss your touch
i miss your voice
the mystery we all know
the secrets to eachother
there's only you i could love forever
that's why i'm so lonely in a crowd
and all i think about is coming home to you
it's the stuff of dreams
how we hunger for our time
i could never get enough
of your sweet love
that is why i'm so lonely in a crowd
and all i think about is coming home to you
Paul van Dyk - That's Life features Paul's vocals for the first time. This is also quite a dark track, where the bassline tends to drown out a very faint melody in the background. I like the clap very much on this track, and the vocals do work well with the heavy bass. The vocals "You daddy's alright," continue all the way through the outro and into the introduction of the next track Connected.

Humz I think its a bit boring actually, to many 'listen to' tunes. This is nice music to listen to while doing my homework and not to party at.
From that perspective, it's grrrreat raw material for mixes.

Honestly I love PvD as much as the next person, but to be honest this album isnt all that. Its nice to listen to but the track just isnt crammed with greatness, but its not crap but not just the greatest thing since sliced bread either.
