darude along with js 16 (similar sounds) have produced incredible tracks and remixes, and these tracks have also gone mainstream. I think people just like to bash trance when it becomes popular.

of course IAN VAN DAHL IS trance, trance is very distinguishable.. it has a unique structure.

I personally dont like dj sammy tracks and i think the only reason his 1 track is popular is because it was a cover from an old track which was popular. As for ian van dahl, big djs used to play his tracks all the time in their sets... take a look at big djs sets from 98 ,99,00 and so on they are filled with tracks like sandstorm, castles in the sky and other tracks which some people like to call cheese ??

paul van dyk used to spin darude sandstorm, tiesto used to spin stuff very similar to ian van dahl's stuff

the list goes on

and now pvd is playing destroy she sayd -de donatis remix

i think that would fall into the same catagory as ian van dahl, club trance

I am totally against bashing other music types.. if pvd doesnt like it.. he should just not play it..

i personally like some of ian van dahls productions.. i love alot of club trance.. and i hate alot of it too.. just like regular trance, progressive, house and any other genre

its all personal preference.. if you dont like it dont listen

to every "true trance listener", just shut up,
dj sammy never claimed that he was making trance music (as far as i know). he makes as someone else said commercial club music, and it works on charts & bit on the dancefloors.
(this also counts to all the other commercial club acts like lasgo, flip & fill.....)

however imo ivd is trance-act, maybe full-on commercial but still, listen to a.c.e. sampler, there you have 3 ivd tracks that's not so full-on commercial and rocks. imo ivd is not worse than svenson & gielen or voodoo & serano. s&g & v&d is very borderline to me, some songs sound very cheesy and is only saved by the artists credibility.

and i'm tired of threads bashing commercial acts, i would love you start a thread where you bash tiesto, three drives, armin, mike, pvd, ferry...(every "true trance act/artist"), for adding vocals to a track and making a radio edit & making a video for the song, but then all hell would break loose.

my point is that why are you judging the commercial acts, when the "non-commercial" are somewhat worse sometimes. if you don't like it, ignore it, it will go away eventually.

I disrespect PVD for saying this. Everyone is making his own music and i respect that. If i don't like a certain artist then i just don't listen to him/her. This sort of bashing bu PVD is not needed at all. It will only be negative to his position as a 'good' dj.

I am not a country fan...but PVD has some nerve to be so prentious to think he is in some way better then those artists that have been selling 10s of millions of CDs on their own with their own material for decades and he has sold what? MAYBE a million and a half CDs in his entire career with half the tracks not even his own productions...please can anyone say elitist?

this is fucked up. why would you fucking argue about what pvd said about country? i can't stand country music and it's really one of worst forms of music that emerged in my opinion. if you don't think so, congrats, but it doesnt make pvd pretentious. he is just being honest. what does this have to do with being elitist? comparing the audience of a country musician to the audience of a big producer/DJ like PvD is ridiculous. country music has its own very specific audience. that audience is not an audience sought out by any dj! and pvd is a big name in the electronic dance music world...a relatively unknown scene. it's all relative.

sales are nothing to go by as to whether a musician is talented. that describes popularity and mass opinion (if you are on this board and bother to discuss on this forum, i don't think you could agree with such opinions so why would this even matter?

Hey Divine, Nicely said. How can somebody who is aready such a popular guy get "jealous" over some kid promoting his own style of music. We have the rights to like which kind of artist, I don't see Ian Van Dahl and DJ Sammy disrespect other trance artist.

For that, I give Paul Van Dyk a thumbs down, Seriously I do like Paul van dyk's production like For an angel or collaborate with BT making Namistai and even his remixes like Age Of Love, but now i have a second thought about weather to buy his vinyls.

i dont think pvd bashed anyone.
to say that two particular artists who redundantly make superficial music and misrepresent talented artists labelled Trance are cheese, is justified. it is no wonder that pvd doesnt say he is a trance dj or producer. because this word is not represented by a pure thing any more. it represents a lot of music that is out there for a completely different reason lacking the intensity that comes from a well-done, dedicated piece of music that captures a feeling created by the artist. if you are a hard working producer who makes more than superficial music and consider your style of music a form of art, you would not want to be classified as the same as those that make music for other unrelated reasons. to refer to this as cheese is only fair.

just like in the world of other music... there are good rock bands and shitty, commercial ones. the difference is, paul van dyk is a musician in a scene that is known only to those that follow it. that would be me and you. but most people are not. and trance is not well known to most, it is not on the same level as rock. if music is your language and you want to share it with the world, you must distinguish it from that which is not a pure form.

Totally agreed.People dont know the difference between trance and eurodance.PvD wanted to state this in a bad way if you describe something cheese so dont play in your sets how ironic !
