Hey Everyone,
I just got back to Davis at 1pm. Where do I begin?
PUKE

As many people know, I was nervous for the past few days because this is the first time Ive thrown an event completely on my own. So Monday night/Tuesday morning, I couldnt sleep till 5:30am because I was just so excited about this event. I kept fantasizing about the greatness that could happen and the high chance of things going wrong that every promoter has to be prepared for.
After I woke up after only getting 3.5 hrs of sleep, I got all my things together and checked off everything from my checklist that I made the night before. I was panicky because theres that annoying feeling you have of forgetting an important item that could ruin everything if its not there. Markus' flight was scheduled to arrive at 1:04 at SFO and I didnt leave Davis till 12:20. I was scared that he would be there waiting for me. Luckily, I called the airline to check the flight status and it was delayed to 1:30pm. So I was actually only 5 minutes late to pick him up.
We had a great chat on the drive from SFO to the hotel he and I were staying at in SF. He's definitely one of those big name DJs you respect because they see you at eye level regardless of their status. When we got to the hotel, we had 4 hrs to kill before we had to head out to the fan meetup dinner. So my friend and I decided to walk around and go to expensive clothing stores to feel less worthy. Markus stayed back in the hotel and slept because he also did not sleep the night before.
When we got back, we went to the fan meetup dinner at Hana Zen sushi. It was a lot of fun. The highlight was Markus' joke about Michael Jackson wanting to be a spokesperson for Toys R Us. We all took pics and had good conversation while eating sushi. Then we headed over to the club. Right away I got my first something went wrong of the night. I was told the mixer in the 2nd room was busted. At least Thomas said they were getting a replacement. Then we started setting up the mainroom and doing sound check. Everything was fine and I dropped the first record. Then things got bad. I was trying to cue my 2nd record and I couldnt hear it in my headphones. I tried fixing it but when there was only 1 minute left in my record, I realized I didnt know how. So I got panicked and rushed to get a CDR and beatmatch before the song ended. I mixed it perfectly but the panick made me loose my confidence and took the fun out of the set. Things got better at the end when people realized I wasnt having fun during my own party and started buying me drinks. Thomas Kent bought me first drink followed by a delicious drink bought by Dan Brake. (Cheers!)
Initially, I had set out time for Markus and I to do a tag team set as a segway into his solo set. However, because I really wasnt enjoying my own set and saw the crowd was really getting anxious to see Markus, I stopped and told Markus to spin for 2.5 hrs instead. It was the best decision I made during the night because thats when the party got awesome.
I got off the decks and started mingling with many people who I was meeting for the first time. Dave Toole started buying me shots of Jager. It was my first time having Jager and it is definitely delicious. However, that may have been the reason for the blackness in my vomit. Anyways, I started dancing and getting drunker and drunker. I was given 4 drink tickets by Mr Thomas Kent, and tried several times to use them. But when I was spotted at the bar, someone would try to pay for me. I was hopping around between both rooms because amazing music was coming out of both of them.
I really did not expect this many people to show up. With promotions being only on 2 messageboards, it was shocking how word of mouth that Markus Schulz was spinning for free spread so fast. Everything was in its right place at that party. The thing about The Oasis is that its a venue filled with positive vibes. Its not some superclub that intimidates people when they come in. Its welcoming and I didnt see one person who looked like they were having a lousy time. The main room was packed and everyone was dancing. This is pretty much the fantasy that every promoter has for their event.
I was so drunk and I was having a ball. I went around dancing like an idiot and running around kissing all the girls on the cheek.
Thanks to Lynn, Meg, Jeanne, and Farm for tolerating me and being my sweethearts for the night <3.
Now for the part of this review you are all have been at the edge of your seats for....THE AFTERMATH
So after the party, I went in my car. Thanks to everyone who was nice enough to take all my gear and belongings to my car for me. I actually was so scared this morning when I realized I didnt bring a single thing out and that things could have been left there. My friend Blair and Markus drove me back to the hotel. When we got into the city, I started feeling sick because of the bumps in the road. I then puked up my sushi dinner all over my baby blue dress shirt. It is now in the trash can of the hotel. Thank god I bought it at WalMart for $11.99 (Eat your heart out Calvin Klein). Markus and Blair got me into my room and I passed out till 9am.
At 9am, I was greeted with that feeling I was dreading from the moment I decided to throw this party. Thank you to everyone who bought me a drink. Without your support, my hangover couldnt have been possible. At 10am, I stumbled to the lobby to take Markus to the airport. Markus said they had free breakfast and I wanted to puke right there. On the way to the airport, I started feeling sick again because of the road bumps. I turned to Markus and told him I had to pullover. Before I could even put my hand on the door, I let out a massive amount of puke all over myself. Talk about a glitch in the matrix. I got out of the car on the side of 101 South and took my shirt off and exposed my Calvin Klein for Fat Asses model body. I put on my last shirt and then we went to the airport. I am glad I puked because I felt so lousy before and couldnt hold a conversation with Markus. After the puke, I was able to be more social.
I said my goodbyes to Markus and then made the last trek of my adventure: the 1.5 hr to drive back to Davis. You guys dont understand how euphoric I felt coming off a night like that. I felt like the main character in GROOVE when he is driving over the Bay Bridge after coming home from his first rave. I had this grin on my face the entire trip. I had some trip hop/ambient music playing and it just reflected everything I was feeling.
When I got home to Davis, I instantly ran to the bathroom and puked more. I got on AIM and was greeted with 10,000 IMs of people asking how I felt. Well, now you all know. I started feeling sick again so I took a nap for 3 hrs. Now my hangover is gone!
I just want to end by thanking each one of you who came out to the dinner and club. I honestly was having nightmares that only 10 people would show up and not even dance. It was the complete opposite of that. It was everything I wanted. My only goal for this party was to make to a timeless memory. Mission accomplished.
