the guvernment is a cheap club. anyone who has been to london knows that.

sounds like a cool place. but 55 000 square feet? eek i really dont know if toronto can support that

it's about time someone used the old sega city space to create a club. i remember back in the day raves used to be held in that space until cops go wind of it.
if it's true that it is a 27 year old that owns the club now, what a great investment, if the liquor license gets approved and this club becomes all that it looks like it will be.

let's hope that this club will become another place where we can all go and dance and have a good time and see quality djs from Toronto and around the world.

The only small problem that I know of regarding lucid is the quality of its "160,000" watt sound system. I believe a lot more money went into power over clarity and quality... The distortion in there could possibly blow out the walls.

No way smart casual dress code is the way to go. In europe that is who alot of the clubs are run. You can be wearing a dress shirt with black shoes and black trousers but if you got no style then no entrance. However, someone wearing smart trainers ripped jeans and old shirt could get it if they wear it with style. I am for dress codes but as long as they are based on it being smart. Besides its hard to dance in dress shoes

The problem I have with this concept is that someone else gets to decide whether I have "style" or not. What if my style just happens not to be the same as the guy working the door? What if he thinks "style" is some Gino look with a dozen chains around your neck? What if he has a preference for Goth?

When the guy at the door decides who gets in or not, I go to another club.

Mark Oliver told me once about a story in Scotland where they asked him what was happening inside the club. (ie what band or dj is playing). If you didnt know the answer they werent letting you in

I think thats the best and only style code a club should have!

but what about tourists - something that Toronto is trying to attract.
if they don't know what is playing and they can't go in they won't be happy at all and would spread the word to friends or other people from overseas and that would totally hurt the club's business.

it's a cool concept but one that wouldn't fly here in Toronto because of the hurting tourism industry.

What if you're wondering who is spinning atm, if it isn't the main event, I've been to many parties where I didn't know any of the DJs spinning but the main event.

Also, on some residence nights you may not have heard of or cared to look at who is playing if its your fav' club and you're just going there for the crowd.

I sometimes find myself not going to a party because of the crowd even if I want to hear the music.

And as far as dresscodes go, I'm for the whole style thing. I've gone to clubs with fairly harsh dress codes and gotten away with jeans, a rocawear shirt and a fitted Oakley hat. It's not about what you're wearing, It's all about how you look in what you're wearing.

ehhh smart casual is pretty easy to decide on. Nice trainers like stylish ones Ie diesel adidas martial arts, puma, gola. from what i saw they always had this guy walking around which we called the fashion police. He would walk up and down the line and check people out. He was always very fashionable but not in the Gino sense but true fashion. a mixture of posh and rugged poor and rich look. or just funky.
Anyways i always thought this was a good system. as you dont just get dressed up twits with no sense of adeventure and you also dont get people with no effort.
you get funky well dressed people which is what it is supposed to be swilly
