well melbourne is much better than perths trance scene....to improve the trance scene in melbourne(and every other state) id say u have to market it, just think how did gatecrasher and them big clubs start it was great marketing, good promoting.

it would be nice if a radio station could sponser a trance night.

I came in on this a bit late, and i didnt really have time to read ALL the posts, but.....

Im also one who doesnt really know much about many trance nigths in melbourne, and frankly, could only really name about 3 places to go looking.

So far i have just been relying on two people i know, one i only met about 3 months ago, to tell me when the big nights are coming up. I simply just dont see any advertising.

In a nutshell, where can i go looking (magazines, websites, brick walls) for upcoming nights of trance. Can someone help me out here?

Anyway, im back on the net now so I should be able to contribute a little more to these forums,

melbourne doesnt have many regular trance nights simply because trance in melbourne doesnt have a following that actually knows good trance and would also go to the same weekly trance night over and over again...

if you count the people who'd choose a trance night over another which is a lot harder you'd only find around about 500 in melbourne. of that about 25% i reckon wouldnt have the energy to keep doing it every week and then of that i reckon another 25% would prefer to go out with their mates who DONT want to go to a dedicated trance night.

personally despite how big the rave scene is in melbourne and how a lot of it isnt exactly underground... personally i'm suprised that it doesnt have a much larger following

i reckon it all comes down to the "whatever rocks your boat" sort of rhythm. too much of the regular clubbers prefer other music to trance

have not read this entire thread.. but:

lose the shuffle.... as soon as you guys start bloody stomping and getting those hands in the air.. you will all appreciate trance much more. That damn shuffle just aint suited for trance.

*note, lots of tongue in cheek in this post, I actually think the melb shuffle looks cool*

Maybe running a few special events with interstaters r something like that..

I think we are in t alks with Mangler about doing something down y our way soon.

I must beg to differ.

IMHO, dancing WILL NOT impair your judgement about what makes a good trance music or how to appreciate it.

I can't shuffle, but I know a LOT of people who are not only able to shuffle very well, but also good at trackspotting, (and some are chinstrokers )

or are you proposing we all stroke our chins when the breakdown comes instead of getting our hands in the air?
