what would this thread be without the bashing words of Cyrus.

Here we go. I hate prog becuase it is boring and suimple and monotone and just repetitive. There is nothing to look forward too in the song and it isnt even energetic. Ill admit, i can listen to about 20 minutes maximum of that type of music before the trance headliner... but after that.. there is so much you can do when 18 songs sound the same with t little rift change here and there.

Even before i knew the labels of these types of music when i was 18, I went to a club called IT... and they played progressive like no tommorow. It came to the point where my friend slammed his fists on the table and said "OK... IM NOT GOING TO EVEN PRETEND I LIKE THIS ANYMORE" after bopping his head for 2 hours straight waiting for something that woould add euphoria to the set. NOthing happened... same stupid beat with a bell here,.. a drum there.

At one point, Silence came on.. but it was a BORING prog remix that had a beat and maybe two sentences from the song. It was just boring,, thats the best way i can describe it.

The crowd reaction ive seen when trance is played to the reaction of the crowd when prog is played is so distinguishable that its not even hard to imagine.

Long live trance!!!!!!!

doesn't anyone understand that people have different tastes?! i literally laugh out loud when i see people go on and on about how prog is boring or trance is cheese. i mean, sure it's not your cup of tea. boo hoo. neither is hip-hop (or country) for me, but you don't see me going off on a rant castrating all the "thugs" and "playas" and such

people like different things. big whoop. get over it.

actually, on second thought, don't: i like seeing people argue over trivial things like "progreZZZZZZZZZZive sux0rz!!!11122" and "omg chester cheetah should spin trance, cuz they're both DANGEROUSLY CHEESY!!11oneeleven"

pak chooie unf.

Long Live Progressive Trance

I'm much the same way...I've met several cool people...but also more than one who seemed kinda disinterested...maybe I read too much into it at the time...I dunno.

I'd like to think growth is a good thing..."new blood", new perspectives, and all that...but I can understand that people who have been here for a while might not feel that way...

It's not a matter of TA actually being "cliquey" or not...but that it can sometimes feel like it's cliquey (and dare I say elitist) to new people...I emphasize sometimes...and it's usually just a few people. I'm not saying it's intentional or anything like that...but there are groups who have known each other for a long time and that can be almost intimidating...the vast majority of TAs I've come across are quite friendly though.

I definitely agree with 404 Science...while I'm an epic trance fan at heart and have been for several years...thank god for G&D I'll always prefer trance...but diversity is good. Misja Helsloot, Sander K and Adam Freeland are currently are in the rotation for me :P

Well, being someone who just joined recently (as of October 2003) I HAVE noticed the recent lull in the forums. I thought it was just me, though 'cause I have a little less time to read the posts and I've missed a bunch of things that were going on -- but the general feel of things seem bang on with what everyone else is saying.

I haven't witnessed the 'cycles' yet as the one i'm experiencing is currently on it's downswing -- but I hope E2EK1EL is right in saying that it's just the summer and people are just doing their own thing because I would like stuff to get back on track.

And as for people not feeling welcomed... from what I hear, TA is the place to be compared to some other forums. I can see how things can seem 'cliquey' and to many shy people out there, it's really hard to step into the middle of things. -- I know for a fact that I couldn't do it (easily) if it weren't for the fact that I already knew Pixiechick and Charmscars and a few others in 'real life' before I started posting. (yes.. having a welcome thread addressed to you is a nice little icebreaker).

But just because you don't know some of us in real life doesn't mean that the 'crew' doesn't want new people to come and play . I think people just have to recognize that some people (myself included) find that if I meet too many new people at once then I can't remember them easily.. which sucks 'cause I'm a nice guy i think and I want to know everyone. And with the recent surges in new people, I found that I had to limit how many 'new' people i met. But it's all in good time that familiarity is conceived. Anyway i babbled on for too long and I don't really know if this post flows or makes any sense. I'm tired... boh... I'll hopefully see some of you guys soon! (Been a while -- too long! /me is suffering from TOTA-withdrawal )

(I can't believe Margs forgets it, fuck she hasn't changed her creepy avatar since day one)

FUNNY STORY (since we are looking back): I actually remember asking Margs on the phone who she was on Tranceaddict upon finding out we both frequented the board. How long ago was that?

hah I remember that night like it was yesterday. I have a really good group pic from that on my computer somewhere. That was (ironically enough) also the first night I'd met RJ. Remember someone thought I was going to bust into a fist fight with someone because of my apparent prog attitude. haha As if. Tiesto rocked the casbar that night, minus his poor ending. You know, lately I've found a lot of closet country lovers ( I won't say names to defend the innocent). I've caught numerous people listening to Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw , etc and they said they actually liked country and asked me not to tell anyone. I found they even knew the lyrics and usually sing along with the song when they're alone. Anyone else has seen this pattern?

Are you one of them mot10n?

like 2001.

I do remember, that avatar. You posed like that all the time.

"Hey, guys, remember my old TA avatar....?" *pose*

I was just making more fun of you regarding possible bracelets.
