Terror Attacks-Taliban Reaction
INDEX: International
KABUL, Afghanistan -- Afghanistan's hardline Taliban rulers have condemned this morning's devastating terror attacks in New York and Washington.
They are also rejecting suggestions that terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden could be behind the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.
Bin laden is a Saudi dissident who has been given asylum in Afghanistan.
The Taliban's ambassador to Pakistan told reporters bin Laden does not have the facilities needed to carry out such well-orchestrated attacks.
U-N sanctions are currently in place against Afghanistan to press the Taliban to hand over bin Laden for trial in connection with the 1998 bombings of two U-S embassies in East Africa that killed 224 people.
