He didn't get paid anything. They offered it free, and he accepted.

Yeah, and then he made a CD from it, so a lot of people will go to the store looking for other things and remember seeing him this summer. Though I don't think they even mentioned his name or showed him for a second in NBC's coverage in the U.S.

Unless you actually took the time to watch the broadcast. You're in the States, and if you watched it you'd know that they not once mentioned him, they only showed him once from far behind (you had to really be paying attention) before going to a commercial, and you had to have the volume up all the way to barely make out what was playing.

Sounds like great promotion, huh?

The music was pretty clear in the UK broadcast, although it still had talking over it most of the time (unsurprisingly) & they did a few close-ups and had the retard commentators trying to describe the music ... guess it varied between countries. Either way it's the most exposure a DJ has ever had for a single event so... it's gotten his name out that little bit more.

There was nothing in the U.S., as mentioned earlier, but I think I recall seeing a clip from German TV that showed quite a bit of him. I'm sure some countries paid a lot more attention than the U.S. did. He can sellout venues here, but the vast majority of the Olympic audience wouldn't have known who he was, so it wasn't really in NBC's interest to cover him. Even those who hate Tiesto have to admit he couldn't have been worse than some of the performance art they had that night.

+1. Its a business, plain and simple. If the club want to pay him that much so be it. I really don't understand why there is outrage over this when its a matter of simple economics, not artistry or authenticity.

but if it wasnt tiesto making that exorbatant amount of moula it would be in the club owners pocket too

According to the promotors website Tiesto is buying us in San Diego the first (and maybe second & third) round of drinks the night of his show. Presale Ticket @ $20 = $1.3 Euro.

"Hosted Bar from 9:30-10:30! Thats right! As a show of appreciation to our fans eventvibe.com and Tiesto are footing the bill from 9:30pm-10:30 pm, featuring Stoli Vodka!!!"

Maybe its all the money save on the cheeseplate? The cheeseshop down the street can be quite expensive.

God bless you Tiesto.
