Who cares if such n such no longer likes trance, or has progressed to new forms of music?

I mean really...

I've been listening to trance since 99, and there have been patches when there wasn't anything that really did anything for me, then I'd find a bunch of tunes a month or so later that completely rocked my world.

People keep saying that there was more quality stuff back in the day.
I say there is the same amount now, there is just considerably more being released so finding it is more difficult.

Just on friday night I heard 2 tracks that blew me away, totally up my alley, and even tho pretty much most of my friends are no longer into trance (moved to either breaks or house) I still went on like a madman about them.

At the end of the day it's the music I like, and I know there are others who like it too.

It just isn't what it used to be, harder stuff like tech-house and electro house is coming back in a big way. For the first time, a lot of straight up techno has the mass appeal trance once had. Seeing Christian Smith a couple months ago confirmed this, the floor was absolutely jam packed, not with trainspotters, but with college kids and hipsters just out for a good time on a friday night.

Personally, I think the best part about listening to music is evolving your taste in it. I will always try to keep reinventing myself not only as a DJ but as a music listener, and thats what keeps me coming back to dance music.

I do understand that a lot of people don't like trance or any EDM at all..
But what I don't get is how someone can stop listening to it after once beeing hooked..
I doubt it somehow..

I read these posts and all I see are whining babies. We all have heard trance evolve. If you can't embrace and stand behind the music that has opened our minds and freed our spirits, then don't go out this weekend. Or any weekend for that matter. Melodic dance music is alive and well in NYC.

The way I see things, trance, techno and progressive house have all been running alongside each other, and trance itself has gone into more of a progressive house style. However, it is quite easy to differentiate between progressive house style trance (or McProg as people have dubbed it) and real progressive house, and because of that I think there's been lots of confusion on these boards over what trance is now.

I just like melodic music (Epic/euphoric/uplifting trance), there is a soul in melodic trance.
When there is a melody, the music speaks for itself and you know how to feel and percieve.
When feeling down , trance helps me get over it, when I feel happy , it makes me even happier.

There is enough for me in Trance to listen to it and be proud.

good to see u find it funny,

I never said his new style was better. It just appeals to the masses, so a lot more ppl listen to him. that PLUS the fact he's #1 DJ according to the ppl who know wat DJmag is...

How can there be soul when it takes no soul to create it? You're the one who suggested the AvB/Push and Robert Nickson tracks, weren't you? I could write a melody like those in 5 minutes. Making a melody sound emotional isn't hard.

Nothing fucks me off more than a fan that thinks a DJ can do no wrong. There is a lot of good music out there. How some people can be so easily pleased is beyond my comprehension.
