I dont like religion in politics but on the same token i hate political correctness as well. Disallowing religious symbold during holidays for example is where i think they take seperation too far. True that many of our holidays have roots in christianity but they have become part of our national heritage whether newcomers like it or not. I commend the US for having the guts to defend their traditions even if it does go a little too far toward the other end at times. Disallowing christmas and easter in schools and at city hall is just plain stupid.

Interestingly enough these traditions weren't very important to the us until the late 1940s. Prior to that there was a very strong seperation between church and state in the US. Protecting religion really only became an issue in the US at the dawn of the cold war (same time that "In God We Trust" was added to the bills). Since the USSR outlawed religious practice the US thought that it should take the exact opposite stance and embrace it as much as possible.

Also of note is that Christian holidays have their roots in the Jewish, Olympian and Roman holidays. Christmas is a great example, prior to Christianity becomeing the offical religion of the Roman Empire it was celebrated in September. Unfortunately, the Romans had no festivals in September but their most important festival did take place in December (at the solstice). They moved Christmas to replace that festival. Of course Easter is the same time as passover. Most of the saint's days also fit with Roman celebrations.

None of what I have said really has anything to do with the subject at hand but I wanted to put it out there for everyone none the less.

2. There is no such thing as US English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter u and the elimination of -ize.

3. You should learn to distinguish between the English and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. English accents are not limited to Cockney, upper-class twit, or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier). 5. You should relearn your original national anthem, God Save The Queen, but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

6. You should stop playing American football. There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American football is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays American football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American football but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full Kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US rugby sevens side by 2005. You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. The 97.85% of you who were not aware that there is a world outside your borders should count yourselves lucky. The Russians have never been the bad guys. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. You are right my dear! Funny how us Nourth-easterners have typically similar views as Canadians do. I get bashed on a bit with my Toronto friends but it is all in good fun because they know that they are speaking of mostly conservative, reliogious, etc, people. I have had great friendships with my lil canucks!

Also, Karim, I just got acceopted into NYU yesterday (YEY!!!!)for Gradaute school....And got an $8,000 scholarship (YEY!)....and EVEN with the scholarship, including living expenses to live in downtown Manhattan will equal over $50,000 USD a year.....well shit someone better hand be either one of those guns or a few canadian beers cuz thats a lotta moola!!!
