I don't want to fan the flames here but I really have to make comment on this one USSR Junkie ...

Listen to me, moffo... it seems to me that u know not a single shit about electronic music. What u are saying is ridiculous. Did u know that your cheese that u call (uplifting) trance evolved from techno?? Techno was on the floor even before your cheese was born. Millions of people were and are addicted to it! Do u really think it's died?? No dumbass - it is gonna take a long time for techno to die! U probably think when trance was born everybody forgot techno and started to listen to trance LOL |
Right ... don't you think you're displaying exactly the same kind of narrow mindedness that you're accusing trance[]control and the rest of us uplifting lovers of having? OK, so the evolution of trance music and culture was influenced by techno. Cool. It also draws heavily on the influences of rave, the whole early '90s manchester scene, the south east asian and indian hippie culture, '80s electronica, and a whole host of other stuff too complex to mention here. You can follow those influences right back another generation to Herbie Hancock and through him to James Brown, the blues, slave songs and African tribal rhythms of hundreds of centuries ago. No style of music is conceived in a vacuum you know ... it's all influenced by what's gone before it and what's gone before that. Techno, uplifting trance, whatever - you make it sound as though Adam and Eve were listening to bloody techno

Guess what dude?? Techno is not only alive but it still evolves! and i wouldn't say the same thing about trance |
Yah right. Even you don't really think that ... go and re read the first 3 or 4 pages of this entire thread, there are some really good comments from the likes of Paul Wilson, Dumonde Trancer, boy_luke_y2k, patticus, mindshooter, Eugene and specially that one from Ibiza Dreams on page 3, about how uplifting trance is evolving and getting stronger the whole time. Have a listen to some of the tracks those guys have mentioned, and compare them to trance of a few years ago ... and try to tell me trance isn't alive and evolving.

I almost laugh when someone starts those threads with titles "Has uplifting trance really died?, "IS Hard House new Trance?", "What happened to the trance scene?" LOL Doesn't it say anything to u Such threads appear more and more often... think about it If i were u, i would rather worry about (uplifting) trance that IS dying And in some time it will die out as Happy Hardcore did . And then, there will exist techno and some other new electronic genres LOL U should understand that many people are still addicted to techno and your trance will never replace it, ever!
Now, when i'm done u can go and continue to enjoy your "music" while it is still alive |
It's not about trance "replacing" techno or vice versa. I'll certainly listen to my cheezy uplifting trance music for as long as it's still alive - and trust me pal it will be, long after all of us are in our rocking chairs. What is so special about techno that will protect it from suffering the same fate?
I'll tell you one thing for free my friend - any kind of music whether it's techno, trance, R&B or goddam spanish flamenco goat dancing, will thrive only for as long as it's fed continuously from the bottom with a new supply of producers & artists, new innovations and most importantly new fans of the music. If it loses those ingredients, that's when it dies.
I'm not too worried about uplifting trance suffering that fate at the moment ... so maybe all the transient fashion followers from '99 have moved onto the next big thing (UK garage last year, hard house this year, woop de doo ) but the heart and soul of the uplifting scene is still intact. More importantly, you only have to look at the DJs that headline the really big dance festivals, and you will see that uplifting trance remains easily the most popular style of dance music on the planet.
You can hardly not see the supreme irony in the fact that you have to come and spend your time hanging out on to a hugely popular trance music website like this, with thousands of users from all over the world, to make your arguments about how techno is so vibrant and trance is dead
