I agree that they've done good selling a lot of records, selling out world tours, being around for 25 years etc, and respect them for managing to get to that level of success.

We could argue all day about how good or bad they really are, but you must agree that they aren't very good anymore, since Pop (or even Zooropa?) they've not really put out anything that's particularly worth a mention (arguably Beautiful Day, but I'm not much of a fan of that).

I don't really think that U2 have made such a great comeback as you say, maybe All that you can't leave behind was a lot better than Pop, which I haven't heard but I do have All That You Can't Leave Behind (I got it for Christmas unfortunately) and it's not particularly that good, the only tracks I can remember from there are Beautiful Day and Elevation (which I liked at the time), and you agreed that their new album isn't very good....

Hmm, that'll do for now, anyway my opinion is still the same, I don't like them, I think they're massively overrated and very average musically

Like many have said before in this thread, it's all about taste really. I love U2. They've been my musical inspiration through out my entire life.

You may not like them. But one thing you have o admit is that they are not overrated. You cannot sell that many records and be overrated. It's just impossible man.

Dude, ATYCLB won about 5 Grammy's I think. Something U2 hadn't done since Zooropa for best Alternative album. It's not my fav (POP is actually because of all the electronic music influences) but it is a fantastic album. And if you can't admit that then I've git nothing more to say in this thread.

I don't like a lot of artists, but yet I can admit that they're good and talented...not my taste, but they deserve a mention, you know? Dave Matthew's Band, for instance, I though of them as being overrated for so long, till I really stopped and listened to their music. Now I think of them as one of the most musically ifted bands out there.

Right from the start I've been arguing that remixing U2 won't change his career, or bring him any more popularity than he will get as his profile rises over time.

See...this is where you're mistaken. Just ask how many U2 hardcore fans have the Melon CD, which is an album released by the band's maazine of all the remixes. That's how a lot of people found out who Paul Oakenfold was throuh his Perfecto works.

And of course it's not gonna MAKE his career if he remixes them. That's ridiculous to assume...but it will bring more credibility to him by others outside the regular medium of EDM.

if you take some time to read what i said, or maybe you did and couldnt understand it because you dont have the capacity, you would have seen my point...
why do you have to come and say the guy is shit when more than 50 posts before you say that they fucking love the guy?
what's the point on posting that? what is he trying to state?...

I know, and I've never denied that. I know Oakenfold made a reputation through his work with the band, but at the time it was a pretty new thing to remix U2, but, as I said in my second post in this thread:

and after 15 years I doubt another U2 remix will make anyone's career.

My point still stands. No criticism of anything = no progress whatsoever. He's not trying to state anything except his opinion, and he has the right to do that. Also, he gave a reason for disliking him. You should be thanking him, rofl.

Oh, and Mylo is totally fucking overrated. Average house if I ever heard it.

EDIT: Oh, and I'd like to ask you a question. What are those fifty Mylo fans trying to state? Does anyone really give a shit about their opinions, especially when they give no reasons for liking his music? Oh, except that his "ch00nz" are "awesum!!11". Yeah, I bet it's because they feel accepted when alot of other people have the same taste as them. It makes them feel like a part of a crowd. Or no? Hey, you brought this upon yourself.

I see your point. Though there aren't many really good U2 remixes out there (there are, but the ratio of good vs crappy is like 1:5), so if you bang one it's a pretty big deal, I would think.

Then I won't give a reason for thinking Mylo sucks, and all his fans can just fuck off if they're not ok with that. And that's the end of that.

i agree. I just dont see whats so special about there..theyre really overrated as you can see in some of the replies here by U2 fans.
I do respect them as a band, they care a lot about their fans, and do los of charitable shit, i even remember bono saying something a long the lines of "i dont really care people download mp3s, because as far as money goes, we already have enough" not an exact quote but it was pretty close to that..same message..which is pretty cool.
As far as their music goes, it is average. Nothing complex or deep, for me at least.

and as for mylo turning down a U2 remix, who the fuck cares? maybe he dosent care about making a big name out of himself because of a single that will probably get airplay and become commercial. Then everyone remembers him as the guy who remixed whatever U2 song.
Hes obviously not desperate.
