Blalock is proven... yeah he hasn't been as good as two years ago.. but I'll take him over Ramirez...

Those splits are over his career, not just last year. He has a career OPS of under .700 away from Texas. And a career OPS of under .700 against Lefties. Yeah... he's proven... that he sucks away from the cozy confines of Ameriquest.

Javy Vasquez didn't have a good year at all last year. He is so inconsistent, I remember from looking at his stats for fantasy baseball during the season. He gives up so many homers!! And the year before, he was absolutely atrocious in the 2nd half for the Yanks. The first half he was decent but not dominant in any stretch. Take him, he isn't that good...
His K's have really gone down since he was in Montreal. And that was Montreal where there was like 100 people in the stands. New York is still New York, especially when the Mets get better and get more attention here soon.
His ERA last year in Arizona, the same place Randy dominated the year before with an ERA of 2.60 (and then was just ok in NY) was 4.42. 35 HR's given up LY and 33 the year before.
And one big first pitch to Johnny Damon hit a ton for a grand slam in game 7. Not the guy with the biggest guts in the world.

Blah blah blah. His perihps are dope. And that's what I see. He's still young too. And, don't forget, we have the Guru.

When he's pitching all the women will be happy cuz chicks dig the long ball and they'll be seeing a lot of em.
I think I have him crinking his neck back over his shoulder etched in my mind permanently.

Dude, if it takes a mid-level prospect or two to get him, then the Mets have to do it. Rotation would be so much better with him in it. Pedro, Vazquez, Glavine, Benson, Seo/Heilman/Trachsel. Yay!

Carlos Delgado (and $7 million) traded to the New York Mets for Mike Jacobs and Yusmeiro Petit. Fire sale continues. Mets get a big bat for two guys I don't know. So I'm sure Shamus can't elaborate.
Delgado is a big improvement for them, he still have some pop left. Not the crazy silly numbers he was posting before in Toronto but still pretty solid.
I like the deal for the Mets but I don't know much about the guys they gave up.

Mike Jacobs is a player without a position. He came up as a catcher, but from all accounts is worse than Jorge and Piazza combined behind the plate. He is also not a very good first baseman at all. No range. He has a decent stick and put up .300/.340/.500 numbers in the minors.
Yusmeiro Petit... hmmm... I really don't know what to think of this guy. Stats say he is going to be the next Pedro Martinez. He strikes out 10+ per 9 inning, gives up very few hits, and walks very few. However, nearly every scout says he has below average "stuff" and that advanced hitters in the Majors will cream him. Who knows? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
All in all, I dig this deal. Delgado is a great addition to the team. Add Wags to it, and I think the Mets are instant favorites in the NL East. Hopefully adding one more starter (Javier) to the mix along the way...

Hammer in the bully...finally
The Mets and closer Billy Wagner reached a preliminary agreement Monday on a four-year, $43 million contract, according to the Associated Press. The four-time All-Star is set to earn just over $10.5 million each year of the deal. He was 4-3 with a 1.51 ERA and 38 saves for the Phillies last season.
Now all i want for christmas is a 2nd baseman(and please don't let it be soriano..love the bat..hate the glove)
