Exactly. Which is why he should have no problem in giving the interview. And while most of you guys are slamming S-J's review, remember that PVD had a perfect oppurtunity to rebut it had he given the interview. Those of you that don't like or agree with the review have said so and given your reasons. PVD didn't. And if he had agreed to do the interview before, then pulling out like this is just stupid.

Well, it depends. Fullon has deviated pretty far from the original psytrance, perhaps far enough to be a separate genre. Epic trance for example has naught in common with "classic" trance, and some people don't acknowlegde it as such. All depends on your definition.

The theming and synth programming in this is fucking excellent. Dark as shit full on really. The fairy tale style melodies at the start.. wikked?! Christ the misted mupped lead alone is unique and worth a mention.

Its not like there arnt about a hundred other releases you could have chosen and actually produced an inspired review on something you might have recommended.

Dont get me wrong, there's places for critical reviews. I liked your IM and Shpongle ones and they were pretty much on the money, but this one just didnt seem to have much basis for reference. Sorry!

This reviews was really an exception - there's a bit of a story behind why I reviewed it, but don't worry, it's not happening again. I admit I referenced to the boring basslines a bit too much, but ack, we all have our less productive days.

Glad you liked the other reviews though. Perhaps you'll like my review of Khetzal - Corolle too... it'll be done rather soon - and in that one we have some nice basslines.

Full on is about as psytrance as epic is "normal" trance.

Which I'm not saying it isn't, but...

Welcome to the music industry. I can probably tell you that it wasn't Paul's decision to not interview, but his PR people. I wouldn't take it personally, I've been turned down many a times for interviews. It's usuallly management/pr people that say no.

No, he recieved the questions way before the review had been posted. As a matter of fact maybe a few of the questions where related to the album itself, it was a general interview to an artists and not an interview concerning his latest release. Maybe this was the problem, maybe not. Paul told me to send the question through his manager first, which I did. Afterward he then agreed to answer the questions, keep in mind this was before the DJ mag poll results were in. I understand he is a busy guy and i'm not taking it personal but I feel bad teasing some of the members at the Tc forums with this interview and then having him(or his management) backout - makes me feel like an ass.

i think van Dyk and his crew saw trancecritics as an unserious site..

cant really blame him, based on that review, sometimes its best to not say anything if u dont like it..

I once sent a mail to L.Vee about how i thought his music lacked in comparance to his earlier work etc.. gave him small reviews of the tracks i loved, and didnt like.. i realised it was totally stupid thing to do... he replied shortly "then stick to M.I.K.E and stop dumping shit on me"

and btw.. trance.nu is up for interviewing Paul van Dyk

I doubt PVD knows anything about this. It would be the decision of his management/press people.

Chances are that they answer his written interviews for the smaller outlets too.

Yeah... and their review of TPOD2 is complete suck-uppityness all the way through. A full 5 out of 5? Laughable.

Just check this about The Other Side:

Hear the track though, and Paul has managed to give it a tech trancey vibe simply with the pace at which he plays the record. This just serves to illustrate what a visionary DJ Paul is.

I mean like .
