I'm glad someone started and bumped this thread. Learning a lot of good information here. I was originally an anthem trance kind of guy, but like I stated in my "Getting away from formulaic trance" thread, I'm ready to branch out into something else now. I finally got a good listen to ISOS 5 over the weekend, and Tiesto bashing aside I loved the sound of disc 1! From what I've read, this style is considered progressive trance, and I find it much more relaxing and "intelligent" than the standard anthem tune.
However, since we're discussing house here, can someone explain to me briefly the main differenes between progressive house vs. progressive trance? What are some good progressive house tunes that I should sample in order to get a better idea if this is the direction I'd like to go? Rebel9, Spirit5, and FloorFiller, I'm looking in YOUR direction (cough, hint, elbow, nudge), especially. Thanks, guys.

Try Hernan Cattaneo if you are interested in progressive house. His latest mix cd Renaissance Presents Sequential is quite amazing.
