Put yourself in this "scenario"...you're a typical canadian guy born and raised, you get a good job working in a great company and all of the sudden some guy comes from county x and he tells you or your boss - I need a room to do my prayers. So the boss has to go to you and tell you that you have to move - quite possibly to a crappier area cause we have to accomodate this parying room now. I don't think you'd be all that excited about it in all honesty, specifically if it seems silly to you. And it may not seem silly to you but I will guarantee that to A LOT of people it does seem silly.
I think you are mistaking the word "silly" for the word, "unfair". Yes, in a way, moving someone to a crappier section of the office floor to give a group of people a prayer section could be perceived as unfair to some people. However, I would ask those people what is more in keeping with the values of our society? Having a crappy office or respecting our multicultural values? Personally, I think that getting upset over your office location is the most materialistic and meaningless value you could have as an employee. But it depends on what the priorities of the company are; most likely they are utilitarian and maximize the good for the greater number, therefore prayers win.

Gross exaggeration. No one's asking to change the world (and if they do, e.g. Sharia Law, I disagree) but maintaining a multicultural environment WITHOUT lawsuits or changing the law is totally okay.

I wasn't there but I can promise you it wasn't in the middle of the station. It had to have been near a wall, out of the way of people. If this guy is so dedicated to the prayer timing (which is a very good value to have: punctuality) then I'm sure he also has the humility to respect other people's way of passage. I disagree with you completely unless you have pictures with a map of the station to prove your point, and I would encourage others to discount your story unless you can prove it. It's totally inconsistent with the values of Islam.

Dude, that's just pathetic.
...not to mention inconsistent. What do you value more, people praying or your walking without obstacles? That's pretty damn selfish. And if you think that people who want prayer rooms are selfish then why do we have a Charter that protects them?

i dont buy this.
its a perfect excuse for harper to push a more conservative agenda
fear, ladies and gentlemen. it grows exponentially, and with it a gov't can do whatever it want - i.e. bush regime in US. guantanamo, no warrant wire tapping, arrest without charge.. etc.

^^^^^^^^ I dont buy shit like this either. The definition of a terrorist has become a catch all for all criminals motivated by hating a country.
I will personally let this one stew in the media.
Let's see how harper will all of a sudden open himself up to the media on this one....curious why would a "terrorist cell" decide to attack now?...maybe we'll let the conservative lackys stumble on that question for a while.
nb. (on that point) at least 7 of the 11, 9/11 terrorists are still alive.
