Re: Armin, Markus, Edgar, Gerry Cueto, Seasunz, & George A @ Space 7/2/06 Review + pics

Sorry. I do it my own way. n00b.
In my honest opinion I feel a LOT of Markus fans will be very satisfied with how Space set the time slots, but we'll get to that in a minute.
My preparty composed of Vicky, Alicia and a whack on the snowboard. Then it was off to Space. There was a minor line outside, and apparently they were doing the willcall IN the line. No tent this time around. Kinda unorthodox, IMO. When I got inside, it was freezing. Me liked that.
Opening DJ was Seasunz. He banged out tons of great tunes, minus one shit tune and minus one NASTY mix which Relik and I heard and cringed at. Tracks included:
Whiteroom featuring Amy Cooper - Someday
Aalto - 5 (Maori mix)
Filo & Peri - Closer Now (Whiteroom remix)
Great, great opening set. The moment Armin came up to the booth, I groaned, "Ah shit. We're in trouble now."
We were in a kettle for quite some time.
Armin, #3 DJ in the world, tortured us for about an hour and a half, according to Neil (Mattivi,) but then something happened.
Rank fucking 1. My current #1 DJ in the world. And a collaboration track came on the Space loud system which made me and Spacemasters VERY Happy.
Rank 1 vs. Alex M.O.R.P.H. - Life Less Ordinary
^This song was the prodigal and defining turning point. THANK YOU Rank 1!
At long last, Armin picked up the pace and started SLAMMING down NOTHING but good songs, one after the other, including a few IDs. The last track was kinda BLEH, but by then he had done such a great job making that comeback it was all good. Tunes included:
Ferry Corsten - Beautiful <- CAN'T BELIEVE he played this!!! Recorded video of it for my Selma.
Control Freak
Kyau vs. Albert - Walk Down
re:locate - Rogue <- Many thanks to Spacemasters for IDing this one.
Above and Beyond vs. Andy Moor - Air for Life!!!!
Thomas Bronzwaer - Shadow World
Sander van Doorn - Direct Dizko <- Again, thanks to Spacemasters for Iding this one.
And then....the moment of the night. Markus Schulz. Famed South Florida DJ/Producer, host of the Global DJ Broadcast, and a man who kicked my FUCKING ASS for a solid three hours tonight with a MONUMENTAL set which just made the Space main room come alive. He was booked from 3 - 8. EXCELLENT move on Space...Finally, Armin was opening for Markus, and boy was it ever just...pure...OWNAGE. As always, his crowd interaction, his mixing...everything about the Schulz was on point. He DESTROYED the main room once again. Every single TA I walked up to was going out of their mind to Markus' set. Holy shit. Tracks included:
Helsinki Scorchin'
Without You Near
Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms <- whichever mix this was defintely rocked. Less vocals FTW.
Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea remix) <- OMG YES, once again, Markus belts out this NASTY, slamming tune. Me loved it.
Naline and Kane - Open Your Eyes <- Can't remember what mix.
Kyau vs. Albert - Are You Fine
Thomas Bronzwaer - Circa <- Lis (FallingMoon) went berserk when this came on.
Marco V - False Light (Markus Schulz remix) <- absolutely NASTY.
Naranja
Tiësto - Traffic <- No fucking CLUE who remixed this but again it was nasty. I'd put my money that it was Markus' remix.
And finally, FLTA's very own Gerry Cueto. He got pushed to much later in the night, and instead of the Space Terrace, he, Edgar, George Acosta and Seasunz were moved to the loft, but it was still perfect. They all took turns behind the decks and it was just plain magnificent. The ONLY song I could ID was thrown down by Edgar and it was a personal favorite of mine:
Marc van Linden - Forbidden Love (B mix)
Gerry, you did an AWESOME job for your biggest gig to date. I'm fucking PROUD of you, bro. Hope to see you rock it out at Space again very, very soon.
TA turnout, as Spacemasters predicted was fucking MASSIVE. TAs from ALL over came out. Got to meet Eddy and DJ Indus Creed for the first time, saw Matt (MrMorden) after ages it seems, Phil (Vero), Ginger (GZewad420), saw MaxDady and the usual crew, minus a few familiar faces...
John (miamitrance04) told me he had never seen Markus before. I assured him he'd be satisfied. I'm sure I was right on that one call. Defintely been a long ass time since I seen you, man.
Tonight, just like Armada night during WMC, should show why Markus should headline. When I was leaving at around 6, people were STILL jamming to Markus in the main room. My combat scars for the night include a massive headache and spaghetti legs.
Seriously....I did about 95% of the night sober and I had a GREAT fucking time.
Pics coming in a few minutes...but just a few for now.
Until the next one.....!
DarkAngel of TRANCE.
P.S. I am SO not sober now. I love Vicky.
P.S. P.S. Attention Sweetcandy girl
I got the 2 videos you wanted, sweetiepie! <3 |

I had looked forward to armin and markus at space for weeks so I was sure this would be a great party...
When we got to space we ran into a bunch of ta's pretty much from the start I love it when there's a ridiculous amount of ta's at a party, I know that no matter what, I can count on that little area to have a good vibe to it. Seasunz was playing and I was really, really not impressed. and that's putting it rather lightly. I'm not going to disrespect but if I never have to see him spin again, that would be great
Armin came on at 12 and immediately the idiots came out from every corner. I had a great spot near the front center; now I'm short so for me it was a perfect spot where I could see armin and still be close to the booth. However, there were 2 women next to me who i think were like 55 who were drooling over armin, there was some fat chick in front of me screaming like a dumbass and whipping me with her fucking annoying hair, a bunch of emo kids next to me that i still haven't figured out wtf they were doing there and a bunch of guys in front of me who were practically creaming themselves at the sight of armin
Armin started out kind of slow but it was great hearing Louder as one of the first tracks I think I was more excited than Arty as I kept harassing him hahaha Pretty close to the beginning of his set armin saw me and pointed at me and gave me the little respect pray-bow that he does and these girls next to me almost died because they thought it was them that he was pointing at. that made me lol. I was really annoyed by the people but I didn't want to give up my spot. After a while Armin started picking up the tempo a bit but I just couldn't get into the set because of the crowd
I was simply MISERABLE. About halfway through or so I went to say hi to armin (thank you! you know who you are and shortly after that Luis and I went to sit on the block by the entrance to space because I just couldn't take it anymore I actually found sitting on that block to be more enjoyable than being in the room with those kids. We hung out there until sometime after Markus started... I don't know when armin ended and markus started because I was sitting there, that was kind of sad.
We went upstairs for a little and to my surprise Acosta was throwing it down proper! Also got to chat with Edgar and Gerry upstairs for a little. I love our little community of familiar faces Went downstairs again after a little while to find Markus schooling space Armin was standing in the booth and Luis says to me "Armin is learning how to spin from Markus" pretty obvious who Luis prefered We hung out for a while, the dumb kids had left at this point and we had a spot between a bunch of ta's so it was enjoyable.
We left around 5 because I was so tired and kind of feeling sad inside because although I LOVED the music, the night had kind of been ruined for me All in all, some amazing tunes were dropped and I still love me some Armin and Markus. However like I told Neil, trance is just in a really, really low point and it's depressing... Plus, too many fucktards, ffs!
It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new people as well. What a massive turnout, I really love going to space and knowing that no matter what, there's going to be this great group of people there (I mean you guys )
Much thanks to Damon for protecting me haha and to arty for being... well arty! the glasses! whahhaa I loved!
Overall musically I thought it was a great night, but the vibe killed it for me. Off to new york tomorrow (edit:today! didnt realize it was midnight already hehe)! Armin Only twice this week! I'll let you guys know how he does over there
woo that turned out much longer than i expected
