Actually, like Carlos said, there was quite a bit more scratching than what he's been doing recently which was a nice surprise. He also played Aquasky and Drumattics Twins - Bring It Down (Rennie Pilgrem Hum Remix) and that Robert Babicz - Mister Head / John Tejada - The End Of It All mashup. I realized during the Pilgrem remix that listening to that song at home does not do it justice. It really rips in the clubs. Don't remember any specific songs aside from those.

Overall it was a decent night - not the best show he's ever put on in NYC. It was relentless and banging like everyone said but it just felt like something was missing. I know Zabs is technically gifted and I love all his little tricks but I feel like his reliance on all this gadgetry has made for a technically experimental sound that isn't musically diverse. I guess what I'm saying is that Zabs' set programing has gotten less interesting and less varied ever since he added all these gadgets to his standard 3 cdjs and an efx setup. I remember a funkier, proggier sound a few years ago that I just don't hear these days. I guess in the end it's also a consequence of the type of music that's hot and available these days.

Oh well, I still enjoyed myself. Looking forward to the next time!

Word. I feel like he'd never play something like Polychord - Mai Thai Night now. But he's still my favorite. I need him back soon... His next small US tour doesn't stop any where around here either, so I'll have to wait another 6 months before he's back, most likely.
