And just because you have lived there for 4 yrs doesn't mean you know the scene. I have lived there my whole life, minus the last yr and a 1/2. I know there are people there that want the scene to develop...some are good friends of mine. But other then a few hundred people at most liking the music, you have country and top 40 fans.

The thing is you need to start small and not bring someone everyone can go and see 3-4 times a yr. Also, in Kingston you aren't going to have a venue big enough for Tiesto, even if you did get him...I am sure he is REALLY pricy, so ticket prices would be a little crazy as I don't know a venue that would allow you to hold the event that holds more then what, 1200-1500 people (Stages). That would mean you would need to have ticket prices at $125 or maybe $100 just to cover Tiesto's bill. You still need to pay the venue....

If you can get Tiesto, awesome, but I think in a place like Kingston it will be hard as they have no prior reputation in the scene for referrals or guarantees of profit

last year we made 15000 for Kingston Pallative with a party that hosted 600 people. this was completely student run. also, all that money was from ticket sales.

also, we have our venue locked and its going to cost next to nothing with a 2000 person capacity. its where they hold some of our schools formals off campus.

ps. only bar that doesn't have a reg house dj is alehouse

There are too many closed minded house heads in Kingston for any sort of regular trance scene to survive. There are a small group of trance people who are amazing, but they are few and far between.

I think the supporters of this idea need to be realistic. How many decent trance parties have thier been in the last year in Kingston? Hardly any. Now you want to bring in one of the most expensive trance DJ's? I am not discouraging the possibility of this working, but I have seen the people who go out in K-town. The partiers who would make this night work can easily go to Toronto or Montreal. IMO that is the reason the scene is non existant there !

Your so right, but if he decides to throw this party will you support it? I'm in and you can count in a few closed minded house heads!!

^^^

I would support it IF it happend, but I just don't see it happening. I think they could get a few successful nights in Kingston, but they should start smaller and stick to house type DJ's to match the scene there a little more.

They say that they made $15,000 last party, which is awesome for Kingston, but Tiesto is WAY more then that, plus most likely no venue in Kingston will have the sound system/requirements needed by Tiesto, so they will need to rent equipment, etc ... and the final thing, a DJ of his status in a place with no reputation is going to want his fee up front, so they will need to come up with the money before the actual night.

True, but amazing would it be if trance became a part of kingston.
Yes if you go downtown the scene is dead and I know that people have tried. but it sucks having to listen to the same old shit all the time, I think its time for a change and you guys do make a point that he might start too big. But I say take a chance and bring Sander Van Doorn!!!
