Who wants an automatic anyway

Another reason why many people here prefer manuals. They are much cheaper if anything goes wrong. If you have time (or know somebody elkse that has nothig better to do) you might want to checked if there are any crashed passats around with undamaged transmissions. It could be cheaper to buy a transmission of that car than having yours rebuilt.

@zokissima: i was only kidding about her going for the second hand GT2 (she might as well go for the second hand murcielago then, itl probably be cheaper than a GT2, and i only posted the link becouse she dsaid Lexus was the most reliable car out there, obviously i coudnt let that one pass by ), but i maintain that porsches are one of the most reliable cars on the road. Seriously the only times porsches end up at a mechanic is when they get crashed. And its not like anyone here takes special care of their porsches, if anything i see more of them when the roads are covered with 20 centimeters of snow then when they are all nice and dry.

And as for my hyundai (im driving a Getz) im quite satisfied with it. Its perfect for those small university parking lots and its rather cheap so that when some idiot dents it isnt that big of a deal and its cheap to service. Also nobody steals Hyundais, sure ive had my car broken into but at least it wasnt stolen. One cant say that for a renault clio for example which is quite a common car around here and it gets stolen a lot(shady spare parts dealers mostly). And newer hyundais are wery well made, my father absolutely adores the new Santa Fe (and plans on buying it as soons as his wallet recovers a bit from the extensive remodeling work we did on our house this year). And while its true that toyota & lexus are consistenly high (not surprising since they are the same, i would be wery bothered is one was significantly better than the other) Hyundais get better and better every year (check couple of past survey if you want).

Also one might argue that since a Hyundai is significantly cheaper than a lexus, they are the best bang for your buck. But as i aid before at the end it comes down to personal preference and if you dont like how a car loks your probably not going to buy it no matter if its a better deal or not. Many wont touch hyundais becouse they are not luxurious enough, i for instance woudnt be cought dead in any Mazda.

After reading this thread, I should get the extended warranty on my Jetta, before I move back to NY - just in case...
