I don't care who the DJ is....local or international....if I am dancing for their entire set then the DJ was good...if not...the DJ sucked....if I fall asleep then I was at Armin or Tiesto

And it's funny how you go on defending Addy while having a beautiful username such as *TiEsTo*SuX*. I think Addy is just a good friend of yours and there's nothing too wrong with you being frustrated because your friend got bashed on music forums by a few people..

I don't think she is kissing his ass, I am a fan of Manzone and strong and sometimes I do perfer them over the big DJ's. Lets face it most of them are going Electro. I have been partyin for five years. I have seen many a DJ and I remember the good ol days, music was a lot better back in the day. I think locals do as good of a job if not better than some of the international DJ's that we pay big money for, with the exception of some classic trance DJ's like Armin everyone sounds sorta the same that are main stream that play for the crowds. You have your underground tribal and such which are a different but even Carl Cox on Wed sounded Electro. Everyone is Electro, as long as they slam it down and I dance all night with a smile on my face I am happy and thats whats is all about, having fun. If you want to be critical, write an artical for a magazine or paper from the comfort of your own home.

reason being, they are told what they should spin based on what the promoter/club says the TO people like.

stanton warriors is the most recent example where i was personally told that they were told what to play as the "scene" is this way here and thats the only way to please us.

then we wonder why the TO scene is so far behind

that probably explains carl cox's electro house performance

I think guys like Addy are better suited for the rap/hiphop scene. Guys who show off their skills and the performance becomes about their skills, not the music. He could play around with the mixer, scratch, dance, flip flop, stop the record all he wants at the rap parties without playing a single track and no one would care.

I think the problem with the scene in Toronto is the complete lack of creativity, almost entirely. There's a few (and I mean a FEW) DJ's out there right now that impress me, whereas most others just do the same thing. They play the same sound, same tunes, to the same mindless crowd. It blows me away how there's SO MUCH great music out there, and practically every DJ in Toronto feels compelled to play the same crowd-pleasing sound. The hard, hands-up-in-the-air house sound non-stop. It's getting to the point where I'm sick of partying because there's nothing new out there.

Some people will say "I don't care as long as the beat is good and I'm dancing then everythings great!!!11!!". Thats great. There's nothing with having a good time, but if that's all you're expecting out of a DJ then please, go to a top 40 club because there's no difference between spinning random house tunes and random top 40 tunes. What always set the underground scene apart from the commercial one is the passion behind it. The strive to move music forward and not ride the same formula the whole time...and unfortunately, that mentality in Toronto seems to be a lost one, because most people don't demand anything more out of DJ's except "TUNES"
