American journalists? i don't know what the fuck you're on about. I call it electronica because in spanish, that's what its called...musica electronica. It so happens they use the term in english as well. It's much more general than EDM, and it just sounds better.

Yes I am saying that - you have listed some broadly electronic artists who have used male vocals - you think I will suddenly reverse my statement???

I've read your replies to other posts in this thread - you make me laugh........ how can you possibly claim to be able to offer an objective opinion about something as subjective as music.

Do you have the emotion control skills of Mr Spock?????

Fair enough, but to the English speaking world, "electronica" is a buzzword with distinct connotations of the mid-1990s. If you're going to use a term, it'd save confusion by specifying which one you mean, because this is a thread in English.

I find it baffling that someone who owns so many records and has been listening to music for so long can apparently have tastes that happen to miss out every single out of these examples, not to mention the countless others out there.

It seems universally true to me that the older and more diverse your tastes are, the more tolerant towards different genres and features of music. Male vocals are a pretty fundamental aspect of music: if you count the thousands of records out there with male vocals, it seems like an incredibly bizarre thing to dislike. It's not as if we're talking about abstract jazz in dance music, is it?

I'm sorry but lol.

It's by far not incredible to dislike because it depends on a subjective attitude towards male vocals in general.

A person that dislikes spiders in general won't be pleased about even one out of 35.000 different kinds of species.

Just accept that, boy.

This is true - a broader appreciation of genres comes with time and I think exposure to more styles / clubs / DJ's, in my case meeting new people who listen to different genres.

But what doesn't change with time is preference. Whether a male vocal is used in prog house, trance or Nu electro I still probably won't be a fan of it. For me a male vocal doesn't sit well with the genres of dance music I like and own records of.

If you look at my non dance / electronic CD's / Vinyls - for example the rock / metal ones it's just about all male vocals because A. They are dominant in these genres B. Personally I think they work with these genres.

Could it be that I prefer female vocals in dance music because they are domninat across the dance genres??? who knows....... its just my humble opinion and I only buy and listen to what I like.

P.S. - I have to go home and cook lasagne now, and not that microwaved shit either, so I'll pick this up tomorrow when I'll do no work at work .......again.

I never minded Moby's vocals. Everything he says is so poetic.

'Broken down cars like strung out old stars'

love it.
