I don't see how he "asked for it." If I get "randomly" checked in the library for an ID, I'd be pretty fucking pissed off too, because I know why they approached me in the first place, and other people who look like me. And then he was leaving (which I would do to, since I'd prefer not to be in a place where I'd have to be constantly carded for my ethnicity/religon). Then the mother******s grab him and wonder why he's asking them to "let him go" . And then they fucking taze him, cuff him, and taze him five more times when he's completely helpless. Fucking assholes. And anyone who thinks it ok to do so is an asshole to.

I will change my opinion on this profiling thing if someone shows me he was the only one checked for his ID. From what I've read, with the exception of his attorney's statement which comes solely from the tasered kid's mouth, I have yet to see that he was the only one checked.
Secondly, even if he was the only one checked, bitch at the lab monitors, who are students, not the cops that were called in to get rid of him after he refused to leave and had nothing to do with the original "carding."
Ugh... you guys are killing me here. I've been bitching about this incident since it happened and complaining about the police going overboard, yet you're making me argue with you over this because you're speculating so much.

I can't tell whom you're arguing with anymore. Is this a continuoum of our discussion or with someone else? I don't think he "asked for it" either, just in case you were wondering.

I may definitely agree with you here, but that is nothing shy of idle speculation at this point. Like Groundhog mentioned, we know nothing about him being the "only" kid being checked there, and we should save such speculation until the facts are out on that rather than innuendo and heresay.

Do we know for certain that he was, in fact, leaving prior to the arrival of the officers? Just because he was yelling that at the top of his lungs (along with some other randomly silly things about the Patriot Act and so forth - which BTW the Patriot Act has nothing to do with this incident), does not entail his actions were parallel to his words. Again, we have no idea about this and should save such speculation until the facts of the scene are clear. Judging from the quality of the tape I cannot tell anything about his actions at that point, can you?
Regardless of what he might have been doing (going or staying), the cops were called because of his refusal to show ID. At that point BY LAW he must comply to show his ID and be compliant to the officer once he was stopped (there are court cases that support this). Quite honestly I could give two shits about racial ethnicity or wrongdoing at that point, and I have no sympathy for him for failing to comply once the officers were present and asked him for his ID. If he didn't have it, fine, but the officers have every right to detain him and ask him any questions they deem appropriate at that time. I'm sorry, but that is how it works here regardless of your ethnicity.
It was clear at that point to me that he was being a defiant ass and his "right" to leave once stopped by an officer for questioning goes out the window. I would NEVER consider doing what that recalcitrant child did AT THAT POINT once I was stopped by an officer for questioning. You just can't do that, I'm sorry.
Now, what happens at that point with the multiple tasing is where I feel the officers were definitely in the wrong, but up until that point the fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the college kid.
| quote: | Then the mother******s grab him and wonder why he's asking them to "let him go" . |
Again, they have every right to detain him temporarily once stopped no matter if he was leaving or not. He cannot leave the scene and the officers have every right to stop his movement to continue questioning him. Again, up until the point of multiple tases, the officers were perfectly within their rights and were being lawful (I still don't know if even the first tase was appropriate, so I'm leaving that for further evidence).

This is where I agree with you.

You really should calm down and not allow your emotions to get the best of you here. I am trying my best to sort this out given the evidence presented. Some things I feel are fairly clear, while others are not until more evidence comes forth. I understand you may share the same or similar ethnicity with this kid, but please try your best to look at this situation as objectively as possible and wait until all the evidence is presented before passing judgement.

Jesus Opus, this a far cry from the flak you were giving me earlier.
You've just paraphrased my whole argument I was giving you....
did you take your meds now?
