No offence to those who are religious, but the bibles teachings are a load of bull honkey!
90% of it contradicts itself. The bible promotes slavery, beating wives and treating them like posessions. It teaches on how you should physically punish your children, your slaves, and your wives. ETC ETC ETC.
I will admit, there are a lot of good teachings in the bible, but there are also a lot of things that don't make sense. |
I dont really recall the parts of beating wives or treating them like posessions parts, slaves and so and so on. If you could show me passages of that Id be happy to read.
The bible's prophets ( up to where it's been correctly translated ) has messeges that reflected a guidance for those times and on. It's like what happened with Moises. The Moises commandments, were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more stricter then the current ones. You know, what happened when he came down the mountain and realized that he had to come up with linear commandments.... the ones that exist today.
Jesus came and brought with him the word of god, and adapted the teachings according to the people living in that era, culture, etc.. great example was when they were about to kill Mary the prostitute with stones, and jesus said something along the lines of ; if you consider your self free of sins, then have the right to go and throw a rock on her, if not then you have no right to do so, for thy sins are the same as hers... something like that forgot the whole quote. But yeah.

Much of what I referenced is in the Old Testament. I would have to pull out my bible to make references right now, but I don't have the time.
For the record though....
I was brought up as a Catholic until I was 12 years old, at which point I was converted into a Pentacostic. My family is INCREDIBLY religious.
I have been baptised three times, I have read the new testament twice, and the old testament once. I have been to innumerable masses at both the Catholic church, and the Pentacostic church. I attended bible readings every Wednesday for several years in my early teens.
Anyway, I do not pull my opinions out of some atheist thin air. I have a very thick rooted foundation built upon christianity. I have done a lot of consideration when it comes to religion and I mean no disrespect to those who are religious, but I do not feel that the bible is an accurate representation of what is.
Anyway, if I had more time and interest to bother doing so, I would ellaborate.. but at the moment I am getting ready to go out. Have a good night!
