actually, Pulse, now called club 338, opens at 11 p.m sunday night. It goes until 7 a.m.
I do have to warn everyone that it is 'primarily' asian (nothing against asians since i am one but they do tend to party 'differently'). However, the music has gotten progressively better so it is worth checking out (although I wouldn't leave my house just to go that venue).
The other venue we have here is at a club called Viva, though it is more uptown (in Richmond Hill). Regular night is friday and they do so often have solid bookings there. From what I understand they're starting Wednesday nights also but it will be primarily 'asian trance/possibly house.' Both nights end at 8 a.m. (or later).
CZ renovations are pretty much over. The only reason for the 'recent' renovations was because of a new manager. This manager is no longer there because too many changes were made too quickly; and of course regulars were unhappy, to say the very least. However, security has definitely tightened up. So the level of 'sketchness' isn't as high as some of us had once experienced there.
There are many options here but I definitely have to say Torontonians are in general, more stuck up than others. Canada is definitely multicultural but at least within the party scene, the groups themselves are not. I just wished people here were a little happier while they party. Everyone seems to be always mad and upset about something (especially when they're high). So it is a little harder here for 'foreigners' to adapt.
But on the brighter side of things, there's always hope!
