Last night I had a nightmare that I was in "Saw 17" and it was all live action... so I had to be chased around by crazies with hacksaws and machetes.

LOL that it was Saw "17" though, I always thought it was obnoxious that the movie had two sequels, and Ive never even seen it, but it made its way into my nightmare.

...the director cut, which has 22 mins of extra footage too, further explaining the relationship between Leon and (whatshername) Natalie Portman.

I own that movie - it's awesome because it has Robert Englund as a cranky old codger who tries to keep his pet washing machine from eviscerating more hapless old ladies...

but fails.

My "must see" recommendations:

- "The Prestige" - awesome, reaaaaaly good movie... just don't treat it like "OMG, that's impossible". Go along with the story and you'll find it excellent. Kinda like "The sixth sense" in terms of twists and turns.

- "The Departed" + "Internal Affairs" (original version). See Internal Affairs first, then "The Departed" for added pleasure. If you don't like watching spoiled movies or watching 2x, see "The Departed" then.

I'd add "300" but I haven't seen it yet.

anyway.

recommend/bash away.

Glad you popped up the Prestige. The movie is so underratted its scary. The depth is just incredible, yet I do see the qualms with the "real magic", as it isn't built up to, nor really treated that well after.

I'd say you're a complete asshole if you add 300 to that list of well thought out and executed movies.

Anyways, you're recs don't have much rhyme or reason, but these are the movies I find myself returning to...

Gattaca
Shawshank Redemotion
The Others
Monsters Inc.
City of God

I recommend The Proposition. It's a new western style film with an excellent script, great acting & a bit of blood'n'guts. A Totally underated film.

I did enjoy the Prestige so +1 to that one too.
