ok, my review...
They definitely have some kinks to work out. The flier said dorrs open at 9, but they opened at 10. Nasir wound up playing to an empty club for an hour. Then, once inside, we were told to wait before entering because they didn't know if people had paid for a ticket and whether they were will-call or guestlist or whatever.
onto the club,
Initially, the new design of the club looked really nice. Much better entryway, good paint job, the bars are better and there are two more of them, and the hardwood flooring and chandeliers look really swanky. Other than that, the sound system seems to have gotten worse. There was WAY TOO MUCH FUCKING BASS! This time the bass actually distorted heavily all throughout, not to mention it got fucking painful.
They moved the dj booth (by that I mean they have it on stage, no more bucket), but it's elevated. I heard that it's on a hydraulic system to where it can be lowered, but I have no evidence of that. Now the dj booth is in a really fancy bucket it seems, and the speakers are RIGHT THERE with the HEAVY BASS killing your ears horribly. Eek.
Nasir was an ok dj at best. His set just plodded along with no real direction. It kept people moving but that's it, nothing interesting whatsoever about it. I kept yawning throughout.
Ferry's set was alright. He got the energy going. I left at 2am, but here are some tracks I remember hearing...
Gouryella - Ligaya
Ferry Corsten - Beautiful
Ferry Corsten - L.E.F.
Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary (remix)
that Queen remix of Bohemian Rhapsody as featured in his 5 Years of Beautiful Things set
bah, there are far better people for IDing trance tunes than I.
jog on!
All in all an alright time.
