who the hell really cares? i mean shouldnt you be dancing and enjoying yourself on a night out? - NOT being a geek and standing over the dj's shoulder all night. it doesnt take a genius to beatmatch and if making a pre recorded set means the set is perfect then why not? big name dj's shouldnt have to justify mixing skills to a load of trainspotters. |
if it doesnt take a genius to beatmatch, then why doesnt he do so?

my point is that really it aint that bigger deal to hear how the dj mixes. i mean ableton mixers dont even beatmatch! i wouldnt know how to fake a mix well. id find it easier to just do the mix. but what if his ears are packing in and he cant mix in loud places anymore? should a dj stop playing awsome tunes? |
But he's not even deciding at the time which tunes to play! How can he read the crowd and decide which tune will be best to play next when the whole mix is prerecorded!
Pre-pitching or Ableton is one thing, it removes the beatmatching, but beatmatching is purely technical, it still allows you to choose which record should be next, which is the most important part of DJing. Playing an entirely premixed set though he cant even choose which tune is next, he's completely removed any need for the slightest amount of skill whatsoever. And all that prancing around pretending to mix? He might as well just press play on the CD then go and sit at the bar for the next hour...
He's making a complete mockery of everything it means to be a DJ...
