I also never mentioned doing it so the floor is clean. I know it doesn't make it any cleaner. It just makes it less sticky, which is the effect I'm going for. I guess I am one of those lazy, inconsiderate dancers you're talking about. Yes, gliding on the floor makes it easier than dealing with my soles sticking to the floor. Yes, that is precisely why I do it.
What I don't understand is why something that I do that helps ME dance is inconsiderable, or why it bothers YOU so much. I only spill enough to get rid of the stickiness, so there's plenty of grip left on the floor. And if the floor is sticky, that's because of drunk idiots who keep spilling their fruity drinks on the floor, so I'm creating as much of a safety hazard as they are. Plus, I already said I only do it where my feet hit the floor, so YOUR safety is not compromised in any way. Finally, if I felt unsure of my balance after I spilled water on the floor, I obviously wouldn't do it anymore because it'd be pretty fucking embarrassing to slip and fall while dancing. |
It bothers me because you aren't the only person who does it, and although you imply that you only occupy one spot on the dancefloor the entire nite, we both know that's not true. Like most people you probably move around the club during the course of a night, and if you spill water at even two or more locations during that time you've already left behind a dangerous area for some unsuspecting clubber to slip on. Nevermind you probably aren't the only one who does this during the course of the night. Like a fat bitch in heat, waterspillers leave their wetspot where ever they go. If it was isolated only to their area, and they remained at the same spot for most of the night it wouldn't be a problem. But it rarely is.
My issue with it is that it's dangerous and it's something that has caused injury to people. I bring it up because people will complain about trivial things like whistles, glowsticks and sweat which at the end of the day are inconveniences but they don't think twice about the potential injury spilling water on the floor might cause to another clubber. It's selfish quite frankly - and I think your post illustrates that. Yes, people spill their drinks on the floor - that's an accident. It happens. But what you're doing isn't. Is it? You can't justify your action by pointing out that someone else caused the problem first. You're simply adding to the treacherous conditions...personally, I'll take a sticky floor over something that's slippery. At least I know I won't fall and break my wrist.
Finally, spilling water on the dance floor is just a moronic thing to do...Think about your reaction if someone spilt water on the floor - what would you say to that person? It's something a drug addled mind would come up with.
"This floor is sticky. I can't dance on it. I know, I'm going to add some water to it and smear all this sticky stuff around. That's safe...now I dance better, to hell with who steps in this spot after I'm done. "
