Played on one of these for the first time at an after hours gig in Chicago last night - played about two hours, and really, really enjoyed playing on this mixer. It may have been because the club I played at earlier in the night had a DJM 600 and relatively rough monitors that skewed me in favor, but man oh man did I feel like I played better at afters than I did in the club.

But I digress... onto the mixer.

The fact that each channels filter is independently controlled is really nice, the fact that the cueing system is the same as the 92 is very nice, and the sound quality is class. I did find that I missed the four band EQ, and that because it was only the 3 channels the overall weight the low end pulls on the 62 and 92 is not quite as much. Still, a relatively minor complaint.

Definitely a sound choice, would recommend to anyone in just about any genre considering buying their first "serious" mixer.

I'd recommend it over the DJM 800 in a heartbeat.

It looks like a nice mixer, but I figure if I'm going to be saving $1000+ for a mixer, I might as well save a couple extra hundred and get a 92.

Hmmmm, the fellow who had afters at his place last night definitely said it only cost him around $800 or $850 brand new @ GC...

maybe I need to shop around a bit, but most of the results I can find put it around 1100-1200. Saving another 500 (since I'm in no hurry) and getting a 92 would be fucking pro. And I suck at mixing.

I'm capable of using Google

And yes, if that was the difference in price, I'd also just go with a 92.

I'm somewhat shocked it's that expensive. My 62 was definitely < $900

Ive got mine hooked up to an efx-500 now. The X-FX send funtion is really really good (some pics here if your interested).

I dont think you can really say that its over priced, you get a lot for your money.

Xone 42 - £600
2nd hand efx - £130

DJM 800 - £1000

you do the maths...

All I can say is that the 800 is INCREDIBLY overpriced over in the UK if it's 1000 quid. That would mean it'd be $2000 over here.

I'm sure you can grab yourself one for less than $1000 USD, I've just ordered one in Canada for $999, including shipping. Hell, they even had the xone:62 on for $890 CAD!

Edit: I'm referring to the Xone:42 in this post...

Everything's expensive in the UK, something we just have to deal with...

Loads of things are simply the same numbers as the price in the States with the $ sign changed to a £ sign, making it about twice the price if you go by the exchange rate... but apparently our average wage is higher (again, going by the exchange rate) and our minimum wage is about double the minimum wage in the US.

And btw I know you're in Australia not the US, I'm just giving the States examples as I don't know anything about your economy

Numbers (for anyone who gives a shit):

UK average wage: £23764 (source: statistics.gov.uk)
US average wage: $38651 (source: socialsecurity.gov)

Then using the internationally recognised benchmark for a minimum acceptable standard of living:

Price of a DJM800 in the UK: £1000
Price of a DJM800 in the US: $1300

Ratio of DJM800 to average wage in UK: 1000/23764 = 4.2%
Ratio of DJM800 to average wage in US: 1300/38651 = 3.4%

I thus conclude we're being fucked in the ass, but it's not quite as bad as it might look at first.
