Come to think of it, our founding fathers weren't very libertarians.
Let's see, we had numerous wars with numerous Indian tribes, we purchased Louisiana from the French, got Texas from Mexico, fought a war with Mexico, took control of the Philippines, had a civil war, and then there's the little issue of slavery. What else? Children worked in mines, chaos and lawlessness in the Wild West, the rise of the KKK. Ah, good times man, good times. Things were so much better back in the good old days...
I tell you, the days of our founding fathers were utopian. Not a care in the world, no European empires like the UK, France, Portugal, Spain, or Holland, ruling most of the world. Every country was perfect, there were no wars, the native population of Argentina didnt get completely wiped out by the white men, and....oh wait. Those things did happen, and America wasnt to blame for many of them. We just stood by and let them happen. Lovely.
Tell you what. I'm almost done building a time machine. Just gotta work out the kinks with this flux capacitor. Once I'm done I'll be happy to send you off on your merry way to 1790. We'd really like it if you could share with us your experiences of these glory days. Since no internet or electricity will be available to you, please feel free to start a journal/book depicting your libertarian life. |
America was founded to keep away from European wars and oppression. As a country where a minority would not be oppressed. The Constitution was written to be the final law of the land. And when I see our country doing things that run contrary to the constitution and the spirit in which it was written, I get mightily pissed. Why don't you support the enforcement of our constitution and stop supporting the Bush Doctrine??
