I think it's hilarious that people still think Lawerence is so ignorant as to what went on with his management group. He went from gradually moving up the top 50 (#35 in 2003) to being in the top ten in a year (#7 in 2004). Shady DJs are shady.

345,000 votes should be a clear reason not to take this poll seriously enough to represent a world culture

I mean when there are events like Love Parade and The Detroit Electronic Music Festival hitting beyond a million people in attendance. This is obviously people going out of their way by making it a choice to attend these events to listen to dance music or whatever reason he or she goes for.

It takes a lot less effort to execute a few clicks for a poll, yet in reality and comparison not too many people participate

Clearly there are way more than 345,000 people who listen to dance/ electronic music

I just think it's cool that Digweed lists Kazell as his breakthrough DJ of 2008 and Sasha lists Scarlett Etienne...

And damn, seems like every DJ who plays at Coachella thinks its the best festival on the planet, lol.

I think the only way to assess this is if they actually said where he would place if they removed all the votes they believe we cheats. For all we know, the difference beteen #7 and #40 in terms of vote count might not be that great!

I do not think Christopher's climb was suspicious. He is a huge Dj and recorded two albums in 2004 when he first went into the top ten. I have seen riots when people can't get into hear him play at Circus.

Plus people keep forgetting that Christopher has been cleared by DJ Mag.

People should be questioning Armin van Buuren, who was disqualified from the BPM poll in 2003 for cheating.

Look at Armin's bizarre climb when he first entered the top 100:

2000 - Did not place
2001 - 27
2002 - 5

Geez!!

My fucking ass PvD is the best trance DJ. You obviously haven't seen very many "proper" trance DJs ala Nicholas Bennison, John Fleming, Vibrasphere, Oliver Prime, M.I.K.E. PvD is a fucking disgrace to trance - after his Reflections album he went to hell. PvD went to shit after 2002. LOL thanks for the laughs.

This is not news. There were tons of threads on TranceAddict back in 2001-2003 about Armin's suspicious climb in the poll. Most people were saying "who is he??" and "he's obviously cheating".

Then Armin got disqualified from the BPM poll for cheating which confirmed it in many peoples minds.

But look at Armin now, he has gone to do very well for himself and I'm actually pleased to see him at #1.

On the upside, there does appear to be a growing sentiment where fans are correctly acknowledging that the poll is rubbish. Allegations of fraud aside, the broader issue is that DJing and Producing are creative endeavors that shouldn't be trivialized into an adolescent popularity contest.

PvD isnt really a trance DJ as he plays just about everything and tries to keep things fresh every set at least in my experience

As for Armin, ASOT started in early 2001 and he had productions under other alias like Rising Star well before that. Communication came out in 2k as well but ya 0 to 27 within a year is a big a jump but I cant say im surprised as he was really good and even my favorite back then! same with fredde le grand jumping this year. he was really good at supperclub when i saw him earlier in the year but i doubt many others did and went off his productions

stop hating on christopher

ok just stop the christopher lawrence hating here...
i've been a CL fan since 2001 and have witnessed his rise as a dj and in 2005 comes the album Subculture 01 which was the best mix cd he had ever created to date... go buy it u will like it... CL has really evolved his music from the first time i've seen him until now... if u know and have been his follower... he's not a dj that will be easily likable because of his hard banging tunes, only for the strong kinda music... lol

and IMO, there's a HUGEEEEE gap between rank 1,2,3........ and the rest of the rankings.... so being 4 and being 10 might not even be that big of a gap....

CL is the bomb!!! no matter what the ranking says, he can be number 250 i will still like him, cause it is his sound that i like not some numbers, and J00f is number 118 and i still love the dude... he can still mind fuck me more than any djs in the top 10 can... oh and yea... astrix is number 18... "he plays psy trance, how the hell did he get up there,up 23 spots, he's a producer not a dj... blah blah blah...he must cheat huh????".... for your information Astrix is one of the most talented artist, check out his shows and listen to his cds....for once... give PSY TRANCE A CHANCE!!!!
