Can't think of anyone off the top of my head who wouldn't.

I actually rented one of the Populous games on PSone, I think it was called Populous The Beginning. Thing is, I was probably 11 years old when I played it, and I had NO idea what I was doing, so I quickly turned it off and jumped back into mindless Goldeneye. Everyone tells me its a gem of a game, though. I need to give it another shot.

Ahhh Goldeneye was such a great game. I played through it so many times. Metal mouth (Jaws) was such a bitch to beat. Had to sneak up on him and get the first shot with grenades or he would pwn that ass, lol. You can get the Populous PC version for like $5 at Wally World and try it out.

Europa Universalis 3... awesome grand strategy game with great ai and gameplay. It's what the total war campaign should be like.

I remember a buddy of mine had one of the Europa Universalis games, dunno if it was #3 or not. Its definitely a learning-intensive game; you have to fool around with shit for a while to get a hold of what the hell is going on and what you have to do(if I remember correctly...). It's kind of like Civilization, right?

No not really. As I said... its like the total war campaign... except actually decent. You can start at any date (down to the day... and the borders change... as do in some circumstances the countries religion... government type ETC). The most important thing its based on though is that the game finishes reading the history files once you start the game... although there are certain events that will happen ingame if certain perameters are reached (for example if either england or scotland takes over a significant portion of the others land then they will form great britain... or you might play the aztecs and attempt to christianise... or you might decide that protestantism is the best option for you ETC).

but anyway let me explain what you basically do: You play ANY country in the world from the Hindu city state of Bali in the east to the French to the Aztecs (the Aztecs are a lot harder than the French though). You have a certain amount of money you get each year... mostly from taxes from your provinces... or production from your provinces (the types of resources in europe are quite low value... however the stuff in the new world means you can make a killing with production). As well as from sending out merchants. You mainly spend your money on your armies (making new ones or upkeep) or on technological research as well as diplomacy (gifts) and various other more minor things.

The main part of the game however involves basicly declaring war on people and taking their land... meanwhile being nice to everyone and making sure you don't get too big too fast and everyone freaks out, declaring war on you until your back down to a more manageable size. You can also trade and colonise as well as various other things.

It's quite complicated as I said... but not really too hard to learn. The best part is... as I said before... is that in eu3 (unlike eu2) the AI England will attack the AI Scotland... because its a good idea in terms of game mechanics. Not just because they fought historically.

To be honest... civilistation 3 has been quire boring since I found medieval total war/the other total war games(civ 4 isn't much better)... and the total war games have been boring (the campaign part anyway) ever since I found out about EU3. I'm totally against file sharing however word on the street is theres no demo I can find any links to and you can find the full version +xp at a size of only 150mb to try it out.

Well civilisation is generally done on random maps and is a lot less complicated and in general more gamey than historical (not that gamey means better gameplay). So no its not like civilisation... just like how wing commander isn't like halo.

Played that, it's like running a country. Long long term.

One of my favs was a old mac game. Escape Velocity in what other game can you take over planets get all their money then take out the bounty hunters they send for you?

Well now some, but then none.

Sounds like a hardcore game, one that can't really be played in small spurts but rather through a lot of dedication. Games like that are awesome for some, but I have a short attention span, so chances are I won't want to spend all the time necessary to learn all the tricks of the trade. Sounds like a great game nonetheless.

I don't think I've EVER heard of that game. Then again, I am not and never have been a Mac owner, so that would explain it.
