All examples of cheese my girl likes.

I really enjoy when people "have almost a vocal". I don't know what you call Maor Levi and his style but my girl and I both enjoy his music.

Honestly what I think it comes down to is that lyrics are familiar, because they are just words that we all use everyday. They are not foriegn, but rather they give the listener something to grasp onto, where they otherwise can not find their proper listening place in an edm song. For example, I get annoyed when certain edm vocals get in the way off intently concentrating on all the layers that are there, now girls, and my ex-girlfriend for example use the lyrics as a means to liking a song that they otherwisecould not fully appreciate. I introduced my ex-gf to edm and she simply can not listen to or appreciate the depth of the music I listen to.

So why do girls need something to grasp on to, or something to connect to? Like someone mentioned, edm is very disconnecting and I use it for exactly that reason. In my experiences girl do not like to, or are not able to lose control as well as guys. Perhaps it is that males tend to be more free-spirited in general, as in more open-minded, more thrillseeking and wanting the disconnect that edm can provide, because if anything lyrics can bring you back to reality.

I've had to learn how to properly get the most out of my edm listening, and I'm still learning how to space-out orget lost in new kinds of music that I just couldn't figure out before. This brings me to another topic that I've been comptemplating, what is it exactly that makes me love a 4/4 so much, deicdes that fact that I like dancing to it.

I agree as well. I think a perfect example is when in the car driving, and I am listening to some liveset or new track or whatever, and my wife will start talking as I am intently listening to some badass thing I haven't heard before. I am so engrossed in the underlying parts of the track, trying to hear all the little elements that have been built on top of each other, and she just cannot seem to sit back and enjoy it. She does like edm, mostly more vocal stuff, but she can appreciate a rocking hard progger every now and then. I don't mind it most of the time, but reading this post made me think of exactly that situation.

I don't think its anything really about gender, more so just how girls are built. I am pretty sure, again let me know if I'm wrong here, but girls bodies are different, which means in the end their brains will work a little different than guys. This doesn't mean that they are out of this world different from guys, but with all of the emotions that girls tend to have because of their nature and because of their chemistries, they will tend to lean more toward the lyric side of music. Think of sports for example, I'm not saying this is the rule because I have known many great female fighters, but most boxers and most hard core aggressive sports, are mostly male dominant. Pointing in a direction that women are little more on the soft compassionate side. Most electronic dance songs are very soft and heart felt. So females will probably be drawn towards that side. I hope this makes sense.

good question. i think its because they always try to relate the lyrics in songs to whats goin on in their lives and they cant relate to wordless songs

Girls care about emotions and feelings, guys care about facts. There's something in the vocal-less EDM that does not appeal to females' understanding of feelings.

Or they just like vocals about love and money.

/Or, as my friend says, most girls are egotistical and don't actually have the ability to feel compassion and are never called out on it (what with the expected motherly instinct and all). Can't say I disagree. But that's the topic for another misogynistic thread.

Not explicitly, but that's often implied when people use "another" the way you did.

"I hope the U.S. doesn't elect another incompetent president in 2008."

What would most people assume from that phrase?

Also, LOL at the idea that women "can't actually feel compassion."

What are you guys, 15 and recently jilted?

That US has elected incompetent presidents in the past.

Mmmm, the typical "you're so young" ad-hominem attack. I'm flattered that you put "15" as the number and not "13".

i cant tell you facts, but listen to your heart beat and breathes, the breath comes every two heartbeats, and every heartbeat is actually two actions one after the other... so that comes out 4/4 or 8/4...

and another thing if you was wondering why you like high bpm (normal heartbeat is bout 90...), a babys heartbeat is ranging between 120-160, and i think you always have an urge to be a baby again and not worry bout anything...

i hope it makes any sense at all, as im extremely tired right now...
