What about the SD890 IS? Good video/sound? It's a bit cheaper than the SD880...btw, wtf is up with canon's model #'s? They're all over the place.

ok it's VLC, Quicktimes chugs the files no problem... oooof disaster averted (bought the computer a few months ago).

1080p is television technology. 1080 on a PC is merely the resolution, no 'progressive scans' about it. 1080p is also just marketing hype for consoles because the rest of us have been playing in higher than "HD" for at least a decade.

Well, a 1080p video file will be 1920x1080, which takes a fair bit of comput0r powah to play smoothly compared to standard video resolution of a around a third of that. That's what they were referring to, non?
