you obviously haven't payed attention. Armin was considored a good producer and DJ back in the days. Though always a better DJ than producer. But still his tracks as such as Blue Fear, the Rising Star production and most of his remixes around 99/2000 were considored really good. Not to be confused with his modern day junk.

The simple truth is that Armin lost his productions skills around 00/01 and lost all sense of reality in his DJing after his early 03 essential mix.

Guaranteed that this album will be rubbish. But I also guarantee that it will sell.

Hell, at least its vocal cheese and not electro.

I like a lot of his older remixes and a few of his tracks, but this shit has gotta stop. Him and ASOT just keep polluting the genre with the same cookie cutter music. Hey everybody, let's throw our hands in the air for 5 minutes and sing about floating on the wind of eternity, that sounds FUN.

I have a few friends that recently got into "trance", mostly ASOT stuff. If I try to play them an older track, even something Armin remixed or made, they say it's boring, repetitive, and that it's not trance. I played them Blue Fear and they said the same thing. That's sad.

Surprised? The same is being said by TA's over here about ASOT. Many old trance tracks which were good years ago, now simply sound old. But some still sound modern and good. I think that are the real good ones.

Why do so many producers eventually start adding vocals to their tracks? A huge list of producers did e.g. Chicane and Jam & Spoon, so it doesn't surprise me at all. I only hope also non-vocal versions will be produced. Next to that I agree that the number of tracks with vocals could be a lot less.

i think it has something to do with the fact that not everyone can get a good vocalist to work with them. a lot of amateur producers would probably want to try out vocals in their tracks but they can't get a good singer to sang to them. so when you finally break through and become big, all the vocalists will be happy to work with you.

vocals will give a track more personality and recognizability, so if you can't create a sound that stands out from the mass, vocals are the easy way to do so.

Imo all these freelance, breathy, pseudo-ethereal vocals are as far away as you can get from anything with "personality". Not to mention the extremely unintresting and cliche lyrics about love, breakup or random nonsense.
