Well, this thread sure has taken off. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing . Let me say first that I did not arrive incredibly early, and I walked right into a fairly full Parkwest. I had a great time and feel very fortunate because I learned that the outside clusterf*ck started about 10-15 minutes after I strolled over from Ultra. I guess I was just lucky like that all week . I wish it hadn't all gone down like it did for a lot of people outside. I had friends who arrived shortly after I did and never got in. In any case, about the presales........ I understand how someone would feel cheated if they bought a ticket for ANYTHING, and didn't get to enjoy it. Clubbing events, however, don't quite follow the same rules as, say, the airlines, concerts, amusement parks, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is usually a time clearly stated (especially on wantickets) when you buy the tickets, that capacity can only be held until. Now, from my experience this is usually some rediculously early time like 11pm, but nevertheless, is still a predetermined time, after which NOBODY is guaranteed entry. I dont agree with how it works, but it is how it is. I personally feel that they should only presale a certain percentage of capacity so that all presales can get in, yet they could still open GA. Until I run my own nightclub, however, it probably wont work this way. As far as the shady, cash collecting bouncers are concerned, I wouldn't think LP would be too happy with how they're conducting business. I don't think any GA should be let in ahead of presales if both are in line. I admire that they offered passes to head over to Ferry Corsten that night, but I do think refunds should be awarded to anyone who never got in to parkwest.

It's great you have nothing better to do with your life than arrive at clubs as they open but I personally find hanging around an empty club for a couple of hours drinking overpriced drinks amongst 50 or so 1st time clubber's a little embarrassing. |
Thats the difference between you and me. I dont find it embarassing hanging out with my closest of friends while the club fills up. Its not important to me whats going on around me. What is important is that im with friends in the venue and not assed out like others.

and so you turn up for your flight with the ticket and the airline tells you the flight is full now, they don't just tell you to fuck off? they get you on the next flight or give you a refund and apologize! |
Amazing, with all the price gauging, late departures, late arrivals, lost baggage, bad service, etc... I thought using the airlines as an example was a sure bet.
- Airlines don't reimburse for time lost, travel cost to/from airport, and lost hotel charge at your destination when your bumped to a flight the next day.
- Clubs don't reimburse you for your taxi ride, time lost, etc.
- Airlines have been known to leave early even after your checked in then try to charge you for for the next flight at current rate.
- Clubs have been known to stop admittance once they hit capacity then charge extraordinary fees to let you in.
If I recall, people have been getting refunds from WanTickets. At least if you see a line that is unmanageable at WMC you can walk over to one of many clubs nearby and get a refund.
I am not trying to defend the clubs, it is just how it is. If it is up to the club they would pack everyone in. In the end the fire marshall forces the club to make it as safe an environment as possible and I appreciate that more than anything else. Take it as a lesson learned and be prepared for next year.

Like I say, thats great for you! I was enjoying Carl Cox before making it to Parkwest at 12.30, it's not my fault they oversold the event and so I simply want a refund on tickets which were basically worthless as a result.

at my lalwer lights out night - I didn't have any probs getting in actually. and I arrived at 12:30-1am.
I guess arriving early at any event kinda guarentees you access. common logic - same applies to space.
