Look, the bottom line, as I always re-iterate in every single one of these retarded "debates" is that, you're either on the side of pollution or on the side of conservation and ATTEMPTING respecting ecology. Any action to reduce emissions, waste less, use less fossil fuels, use less energy, find alternative energy sources, reverse the enormous damage being done to the ocean and atmosphere, etc... is all GOOD. It is helpful to the environment, global warming completely aside. The funny thing today is, the global warming debate has become the environmental debate. So if FOX, conservatives etc can push the view that it is a hoax and doesn't mean anything on everyone, people will continue to be against environmentally sound measures and actions, and trying to do any good because they have this excuse that it doesn't matter. Climate change aside, pollution is doing damage, waste is doing damage, and the human impact on the natural world is soaring.
To me the climate change debate will always remain an environmental debate for those reasons. If you can put aside the specifics of whether or not the earth is getting hotter or whether or not the sea level will rise, it should not be that hard to understand that we have been polluting in thousands of ways exponentially since the industrial revolution and the human impact on earth is having profound effects, in ALL areas not just the climate. You can choose to keep helping the people looking for excuses to not give a fuck (as the entire anti-global warming/its a big fucking hoax/they're just making money camp is doing), or, once again, you can stop cock blocking the scientific community and most of the world from moving forward to better ways of living...

As far as the recylcing goes, it definitely depends on what we're talking about. If we're talking about low-grade plastics, by all means, recycle. Cans... Im not sure on. I think it about breaks even.

In finding a position on the recylcing issue, you have to determine what your net goal is. The space used up for landfills is becoming obsurd, not to mention the fact that landfills emit methane gas (a greenhouse gas 25 times as potent as carbon dioxide). If we're talking about being good to the environment in general, yeah, its probably beneficial to recycle. Speaking strictly on carbon... it's not as clear-cut.

i'm with ya bro. i drive a hybrid car, i've always been the roomate to turn off lights/electric whatever when i'm not in the room (i voted for the last 5 bills that allow people to deduct energy effecient items ). i'm all for a better & greener earth don't get me wrong. we have an effect, yes. but for people to run around screaming 'global warming' isn't justified to me for a variety reasons. i'm not saying 'oh i took classes and know better' but we had scientists from all over the world come in and guest lecture on the topic. some as hardcore as you could imagine(telling us the end was near) and some sitting back saying 'this is ludicrous' . in the end, all of them wanted us to be well aware that our actions have consequences and that things needed to change. that mindset i'm 100% with.

Ang ' ela_ie -- i don't know too much about the authors but Scott Rowland PHD(Univ of Hawaii) and Dr Dan Walker (Columbia/UH) were the ones stating the facts on the volcanoes during the Triassic period.

People run around screaming anything that gets as much momentum as this issue. The media and the whitehouse have turned the environmental debate into "do you think global warming is real" It's terribly harmful imo. I'm not going to back down from supporting green measures, less waste, etc just because people disagree over whether or not the earth is getting warmer because of us.
