I imagine after all said and done - it is nothing more than a job for most of these jocs. I think the allure of "OMG I have bunch of ppl dancing to "my" music" (by "my" music I mean the kind I spin...) Sure, I bet they are not doing too shabby for themselves, however, I don't think they see it same way you do - to them it's another paycheck and if the night is enjoyable, great!
I also thought that if I was making shitload of money, doing something I enjoy I'd be always happy. Guess what - I am still doing the same job I used to enjoy and even though I should be all smiles, as I pull in a fat paycheck, I still feel like shit. Sometimes doing what you enjoy and getting paid big bucks is not as as hype as it seems.
I guess the novelty wears off and then what used to be fun - now is a job. Besides, some of the fanbois I see mobbin the DJ are sweaty, smelly, drugged-out idiots that I wouldn't wanna talk to under normal circumstances... let alone after trans-atlantic flight in yet another time zone and after 8 or so hours of loud music that must be destroying my hearing, let alone pounding headache.
So, I sorta understand.

| quote: | | No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
