Actually I do drive, and I do take the Gardiner a lot. But yeah if the toll would make sure that there's smooth traffic, more lanes, and go towards a better highway then I'm all up for it. Like I said earlier, you can probably get your company to pay for the toll way kinda like how companies pay for the ETR transponder and travel time. I don't take transit so I don't really know how it would effect me with ticket prices going up but I'll probably bitch too if the price went up and there's no change in service.

I'm just thinking of this idea from a business point of view. Toll ways have worked for Chicago, NY, and I'm sure many other places, which engendered a lot of revenue for the city. Especially now how Toronto is in debt everywhere.

it still wouldn't solve the traffic issues that Toronto already has. The 407 was suppose to help clean up traffic problems along the 401, which it hasn't helped. Instead of one bumper to bumper highway there are two of them during rush hour.

#2) Most companies wont pay it unless you are in sales. The lowest end workers and those on a fixed salary will suffer the most.

#3) Chicago has alternative free highways for those who wish to avoid the toll.

wrong wrong wrong

407 is wide open 99% of the time during rush hour
401 is busy of course but moves efficiently if you know how to drive it at rush hour.

The 401 would be a disaster without the 407.

A reality check for those comparing Chicago, New York and San francisco infrastructure to Toronto.

San Francisco:

Tell me again why we are talking about TEARING DOWN a highway instead of building a new one?

BTW, why are the lanes on the Gardiner so retardedly wide? Especially coming up to the Spadina exit. You can fit 2 cars side by side in the middle lane easily. Complete waste of space.
