I'm sorry, but what exactly is right wing radio if not what you just described. You didn't listen to Rush back in the 90s did you?

I'll answer for you - either no, or you don't remember. I used to play soccer and tennis with my brother in our basement while watching Rush on his show and Pat Robertson on the 700 Club back in 93 (for example) over summer vacation, while waiting for cartoons at 2:30 on Fox. Those people were pretty damn pessimistic during Clinton's years if you forget.

What the hell do you expect from people who disagree with neo-con rule from the past 7 years (and congressional rule for a lot longer...)?

thats another thing people don't buy into with Obama aside from telling everybody this country sucks. its this vague intangible vapidity about "more better" and "more further ahead". it doesn't wash with reality.

people are beginning to see that Obama is nothing more than pure political animal. to think he'll bring "more better" is about as naive as you thinking most people are too ignorant to agree with you about conception, foriegn oil, terrorism, evil....

My Republican leaning, middle class parents sure thought that things were better in the 90s. My mom voted for Bush in 2000, not sure about 2004, I think because she's embarassed.

If all that Obama can be is someone who can inspire some people with speeches, we'll be a lot better off than we currently are.

What exactly do you think is a good leader? Someone who inspires or someone who is authoritative and says what's better. I won't even get into how it disgusts me that people say that Obama is too intellectual or professorial. What should he be - retarded?

Pessimism and negativity? Let's not even go there...political radio is rife with it, left and right. That's the nature of political grumbling. Left wing radio is alive and well my friend.. Coming from Tampa, Florida, all I had to listen was right wing radio. I didn't have a choice. No wonder it "flourishes". For me to even get a chance to hear a more progressive worldview, I had to listen to NPR!

When guys by the likes of Michael Savage says, "Liberalism is a brain disorder." I call that hate. Especially when the vast majority of these clowns are always advocating going to war with any nation which is opposed to the neocon's foreign policy. I call that hate.

I don't think he'll be the beacon of change anyone has made him out to be. But where he stands on issues, and the way he has thought about them, I trust far more than McCain.

It does wash with reality if you care to take a close look.

I don't think people are too ignorant at all. I think they just haven't been given any options to think any differently.

Also, Air America radio is complete shit.

Almost as bad as Rush without the hate crime bit.

What?? Who seriously and specifically is always advocating goin to war with any nation that's opposed to the necon's foreign policy? What exactly did they say to promote doing that? You're overreacting man. I grew up in the Tampa area too and I know what's up with the radio stations (970 WFLA in da heezy!). What do you want, the fairness doctrine for radio? It's market driven man. If there was a sizable audience that wanted to hear that negative drivel, it would be more prevalent on the air.

But where does he stand on what issues? And how has he thought about them? We don't know man, it's always changing and he's always dancing around shit and nuancing things to death. This isn't a comparison to McCain, I'm just sayin.

P.S.- good to see you back in the political forum... been waiting for shit to spice up again!

The Schnitt Show for one calls Ahmedinijad "The Hitler of Iran"...EVEN THOUGH, it is not the president of Iran whose got the power. Hitler had absolute power! And saying the president of Iran is Hitler is exactly like calling for "regime change". Why? Because Hitler must be overthrown.

I actually called into the Schnitt Show one afternoon on my commute from work, and I this is what I said...

Me: You should not be surprised at why the Iranians are so hostile to us. Don't forget that in the 1950's the CIA overthrew their democratic government, and in the 1970's supported a right wing tyrants called the Shah. They have every right to be angry at us for everything we did to their country.

Schnitt: Iran still poses a grave threat. They threaten Israel by "wiping them off the map". They continually engage in violating UN resolutions calling for them end their nuclear weapons program.

Schnitt: Nate, who attacked us on September 11th?

Me: Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaida.

Schnitt: Eeeeexactly, be right back folks.

*click*

------------

Seriously, WTF is that?

it's not really a question about if he's a good leader. i honestly think he's been a awful leader of his party and his constituents but that, and what youre asking, is beside the point. what voters consider as far as the future of this country is concerned is about where he'll lead us to. therein lies the difference.

so again, it's the intangibility thats attractive. i hope you understand that it's very hard to get on board with something that vague. because i have to be honest, where he stands on the issues has hardly been model of either consistency or definitiveness. and nuance is sometimes not a virtue
