On New Year's Day 01.01.2010 I'll play a 23 hour set in Helsinki at Redrum. I've made two old school themed mixes to warm up the marathon session. In that 23h set I'll be playing my favorite pieces of electronic dance music from the past 23 years alongside with the latest goodies from across different genres.

The two old school sets will be themes "progressive" and "trance". How original hehe... The progressive mix will be my December Radio Unity while the trance mix (focusing on very old school material) will be part of Afterhours.fm's End Of The Year celebrations and coming out near NYE.

It was super hard to pick just ten favorites from the past 15 years of progressive house. There are some obvious choices and probably couple less obvious too. Out of the usual suspects on production front featured are Redanka, Underworld, Spooky, Infusion, Tilt, Jerome Isma-ae and Sunday Club to name a few. It's quite an emotional and melodic journey leaning towards Renaissance influenced progressive trance at the times. Hope you'll like it!

Airing takes place traditionally 21:00-22:00 CET (22-23 finnish time) on the third Wednesday of the month which is today 16.12.2009. Feel free also to join the live chat at AH.FM message board. Radio Unity 013 tonight

Tonight’s Radio Unity (21:00-22:00 CET) will be a re-run of my Afterhours.fm End Of Year Countdown old school trance mix. I received so many requests to make it available as download that I decided to make a Radio Unity episode of it. It’s mostly german and british trance from 1992-1994 with signature artists of the like Union Jack, Hallucinogen Oliver Lieb, Humate and Sven Väth (with his Metal Masters alias) all featured. Tonights Radio Unity episode is filled with proggy trancey vibes. Currently there is plenty of 128bpm, housey, symmery prog trance which in my opinion fits equally well bigger and more clubby venues. Featured are legends like BT, Kyau & Albert and Ronski Speed and nu skool heroes like Arno Cost, EDX and Jerome Isma-ae. Well… you can’t really call Jerome “nu skool” as he has been around for ages, but has only recently properly broken into the global mainstream. Tonight's Radio Unity has a definite summery vibe going on. There is some amazing progressive trance around at the moment and there were lots of great tracks to choose from.

Artists like Henry Saiz, Eelke Kleijn, Funkagenda and Protoculture have cemented their place in the current world map of electronic dance music and are coming up with the goods almost every month. Andy Moor and Way Out West represent more veteran producers. There are two fresh remixes of classics: a wicked prog trance version of Sasha & Emerson's 2000 classic 'Scorchio' and a progressive psytrance version of Binary Finary's '1998'.

Finnish trance sound is represented by myself and the always-so-reliable Allende. I'm happy that I can finally play my breakz trance remix of Alex MORPH's 'Purple Audio' which was recently released on Paul van Dyk's Vandit label. The mix has been ready well over a year but has been waiting for airplay to ensure freshness when released. I'll be joining the chat at the Afterhours.fm forum and hope you'll join some likeminded music lovers too.
