I agree.

Without a system to make this list we will never agree. I think we even wouldn't agree on the system used to make the list.

Yeah, even though he's awfully mediocre sometimes (especially lately), he's undeniably the first name of ambient in my book. The guy made so many classics it's not even funny (not all of them are pure ambient though):
Air (I & II)
Namlook (I & II)
Syn

and especially his collabs with:
Mixmaster Morris (Dreamfish)
Klaus Schulze (Dark Side Of The Moog)
Move D (even the newer ones are great)
Biosphere (The Fires Of Ork)
M. Maurice (4Voice)
....

In terms of quality neither one of his god knows how many albums touches SAWII, Substrata or Three Organic Experiences IMO, but he made a lot of awesome music and I respect him very much.

nothing at all comes close to SAWII. it's pretty much in a league of its own.

Air. 10,000 Hz Legend cannot be denied, I fell in love with it again the other day.

Or whoever came up with the intro to Everything In It's Right Place. Simply beautiful, and I hate Kid A.
