Oh and kindly excuse me if I don't take you seriously when you try and prove me wrong using the following website that you conveniently labeled as link1 and link2:

EVILBIBLE.COM

another reason to like Hitchens (from Real Time with Bill Maher the other night): not relenting on Mos Def's paranoid "question authority" card he always plays and "I like to talk over you because I don't really want to hear your answers if they are legit" deal:

first alex, I didn't misquote you or lie about what you said.. I simply pointed out what you (and other christians) DON'T say..what you conveniently omit every time you speak of one of your favorite prophets in the bible (Moses).

quote:
He is not just a vastly more intelligent human being with super powers, he is everything. It is not up to human beings to question the actions or integrity of this said God because the same standards that apply to us mere mortals do not apply to him. It is impossible for God to be hypocritical, evil or menacing as these are traits attributed to free will given to human beings, which is simply not comparable to divine will or divine providence.

Wow....Wow....Wow... I will let this statement speak for itself. The fact that you can blindly excuse acts of pure..pointless malicious evil speaks volumes about your character.

lolol...I thought you'd like that. The fact remains that those passages comes direct from the horse's mouth alex! Every passage is cited by name and verse. Feel free to pick up your trusty bible and read for yourself.

You know..from your first statement I get the impression that seem to be struggling to justify some of the massacres and other sadistic horrors committed by god in the old testament. I assume (and hope) this is not the case. If you don't believe in the particular commandments I cited, you would greatly simplify things for all of us by explaining what criterion you use to decide which parts of the bible to believe and which to discard? Please explain the process you use to filter truth ("the word of god") from the other stuff?

How is it against my character? Once again you just don't get it. It's like explaining what red looks like to someone who's been blind their entire life.

Oh and you DID lie, I think everyone in this thread should go back and look at your bull shit attempt at twisting what I said around completely.

I love how you christians like to point to noble commandments given to Moses by a talking shrub..but you conveniently don't brag in the mass murder he perpetrated afterwards.. The God of the old testament was a nasty SOB wasn't he? Full of jealousy, encouraging his followers to commit genocide and infanticide..to destroy cities..to murder thousands of innocents...to rape and enslave women...the way he sent famine and plagues upon countless people who offended him.. How compassionate..How loving! I really like how you christians pick and choose what parts of the bible to follow and what parts to ignore.

Jesus Christ you look like a fool.

John 1 refers to the prophecies regarding Jesus in the old testament came true. Jesus came to us.

i certainly believe in Evolution, but I have my serious doubts about the 'big bang' theory. Since the universe is expanding, what exactly is it expanding into? Why can't the universe just be something that has been, and always will be of an infinite size and duration.

It's not expanding into anything. It is everything.

First of all, I doubt introspection is what you mean. You haven't caused me to doubt my own beliefs at all.

Second, it's just annoying to read your posts when they're obviously coming from someone who doesn't know the first thing about Christianity or any sort of personal faith. Are all Republicans the same? Then why are all Christians? Do all conservatives follow the PNAC letter without hesitation? Then why must all Christians follow every verse in the Bible?

The Bible is a series of metaphors and parables. There is truth there, but it is gleaned, not accepted verbatim. Christian literalists may be vocal, but in reality they are few and far between.

Also, posting verses without context is about what I'd expect from somebody who draws his conclusions about a subject without even pretending to learn about it first.
