That's because you guys probably have a different perspective on what audio quality is. Palm most likely means audio quality in terms of the bitrate and samplerate. If the audio drops (due to low latency) that doesn't mean the quality of the audio is any less, it just means the computer fails to get the sound information to the soundcard on time.

Your perception of audio quality (Cronodevir), seems to be that if the audio glitches, the quality is less. Which technically could be considered correct as well.

Yeah. I know. I know.

He put that worm on a hook and you took it, down to the bottom of a very stagnant pond.

Then you DO understand that OTHER people might WANT to HEAR what THEY are PLAYING ???

And with 512-1024 latency PEOPLE CAN DO THAT WITHOUT IT AFFECTING PERFORMANCE

Fixed.

Also, Subtle, I thought 64 Samples was for playing live or using hardware...now its 512?

Seriously you know what would be a better, an "off topic" thread for this forum specifically.

A thread where once other threads go off topic, you post in this designated thread. Discussing latency doesn't fit in the chillout or political debate forum, it fits here. So I think an offtopic or "general" thread would fix that.

Render quality isn't commonly used in the context you're using it in. It is normally used to refer to the fidelity of the final render (when you actually exported it). Usually, while you are still working on a project it's fidelity settings is referred to as audio quality. Regardless of the fact if it's performance is up par.

Oh, sorry. My mistake.

So what is the actual quality of the final render called?

64 samples is over(under)kill. (at least my computer cannot handle it)

512 samples gives a latency of around 11 milliseconds, unnoticeable.

I used to have 1024 samples latency because i thought that would be the best peformance/latency ratio.. and avoid stutters.
That was actually the sweet spot when my computer stunk like yours and i had to operate on big projects.

Now im using 512, my audio NEVER stutters, there is ZERO latency in recording MIDI and Audio.

So what`s the problem ?

Oh yeah that`s right.. you Cronodevir said that you would use 2048 samples latency no matter how great your computer were!

BTW, What if you didnt have "onboard" sound on your keyboard ?
