No that story is from like 2 years back. I probably mentioned it during our horrible experience at the Bull though. Anyways I gotta run to work. Give me a shout closer to the weekend!

Because if that $100 bill included labor costs and you didn't have to tip, you would actually be paying more than $125, and you would be paying tax on that labor cost as it is included on the sale.

I still don't understand why people don't get the efficiency of the tipping system. You are paying less incrementally for the service through tipping than paying the aggregate labor costs with tax attached to the bill. Your food bill is so low because labor is barely included.

Think in terms of incremental costs vs. aggregate, and think like business people folks.

well i'm sort of a burger snob because it's one of my favorite foods. if i can't order my burger rare or medium rare then i won't order one. different restaurants get different qualities of beef so if you get one at a cheap place like applebees or something, they will only be able to do medium or higher...which pretty much means they don't trust their own meat quality lol

no but there's just something about the J Alex burger. they butter and toast the bun and it has the perfect combo of condiments.

@ourmanflint, thanks for the explanation. i honestly didn't realize that is why we "have" to tip. i'm eager to explain that to my cheap ass boyfriend lol actually that's mean, he's not generally "cheap" but he is a typical canadian when it comes to tipping. he wants to pay for his food and anything extra (no matter what the % is) should be considered a gift to the waitor and they shoudl be happy with that as far as he is concerned.

I honestly don't know many cheap people when it comes to tips. In fact, in Detroit, any time we'd tip they'd ask us if we were Canadian, lol.

oh ok. so you've evolved enough to tip but not to be able to form an emotional connection with a pet?
