I still don't understand why people don't get the efficiency of the tipping system. You are paying less incrementally for the service through tipping than paying the aggregate labor costs with tax attached to the bill. Your food bill is so low because labor is barely included.

well i'm sort of a burger snob because it's one of my favorite foods. if i can't order my burger rare or medium rare then i won't order one. different restaurants get different qualities of beef so if you get one at a cheap place like applebees or something, they will only be able to do medium or higher...which pretty much means they don't trust their own meat quality lol

@ourmanflint, thanks for the explanation. i honestly didn't realize that is why we "have" to tip. i'm eager to explain that to my cheap ass boyfriend lol actually that's mean, he's not generally "cheap" but he is a typical canadian when it comes to tipping. he wants to pay for his food and anything extra (no matter what the % is) should be considered a gift to the waitor and they shoudl be happy with that as far as he is concerned.
