man, 5,000 dollars a year in Canada really takes the student fees burden out of the equation. US FTL.
I took a year and a half off after completing my freshman year to flip invisible real estate when the market was still manic in Dubai, backpacked and travelled various countries, and recently repatriated myself Iraqi Kurdistan where I became quite immersed in activism against the hereditary defacto tribal rulers, which landed me in hot water at times. I contemplated never returning back to school, and considered joining the Canadian army full time , with hopes of eventually going into private security in the north of Iraq later on. But instead I opted to head back to school since I was missing a more "regular" lifestyle, and besides, if I still want to go a military route, a uni degree will only help. I'm 20, so its not to late to resume as a second year(its never too late), and although I am not sure If ill end up in grad school, teaching, military, NGO work, finance, etc., the completion of the program I've started seems like the most sensible choice right now.
