You really are a foolish girl.

Care to explain why? I just sent one of my clients there recently and they absolutely loved it. Is it because it's Africa?

EDIT:

If you don't think I am aware of the political issues in Zimbabwe, or in Africa in general, you're wrong. Political issues are not a reason to avoid travel entirely, especially when it poses very little threat to tourists.

Just like any African country, or any place you travel to in general, you should exercise caution. I still don't think however, that it should deter you from wanting to go there at all.

Because my mother lived in southern Zimbabwe and lost our farmland to the government militias, or do you want to hear about how they hacked our neighbours to death for their property and left them on the road to bloat up like dead cattle?
Every dollar you send there sustains a tyrannical government which has sent 80% of the population into famine, typhoid and unemployment.

Yes it is a beautiful country, hope the view as a tourist was worth it...

Do some research on Jamaica, Dominican Republic, more than half of Africa etc. etc. etc. You could say that tourism negatively affects all of these places, but is it a reason to stop yourself from exploring the world?

I'm sorry horrible things happened to you and yes, it's awful that there are some people in power who shouldn't be. With that being said, you can't lock yourself up and never go anywhere in fear of inadvertently supporting something you don't want to.

I would hope in our lifetimes the situations in many African countries will improve. Chances are though, that it's not going to be perfect by the time we die. Why miss out on an incredible experience to see a beautiful place in the meantime?

I've lived worked, travelled and flown through well over 4 dozen countries, I'm not an ignorant tourist.

Spare me, you don't know me, you really don't care like most yanks and I really don't expect you to care.

'oh isn't it just awful'
Yes it bloody well is awful. You send $1000 in-country and they'll just spend it paying off mercenaries to pacify the population, that $1000 will buy them 20 assault rifles and enough ammo to kill a suburb.

You probably wouldn't buy a coat made out of endangered species because 'it looks nice'.
You shouldn't spend money in an area because 'it looks nice' which will directly send the citizens of a country to an early grave.
[I'm done end of discussion for me]

Fair enough, obviously it's touchy for you. Sorry, didn't mean to get you upset... and yes, I was being sincere about my apology. Slur or not, I still mean it.

Moving on...

Yay for honeymoon!

Congratulations!

well, honeymoon is booked. i must say its somewhere where i didnt really want to go, but its booked now, and i fly in 2 weeks.

im going to ibiza, to playa d'en bossa. considering our budget, and also the fact that a lot of places are cooling down now this seemed to be the only place worth going to. its about 15 minute walk to ibiza town if we feel like partying, but the main idea was to relax and get burnt. the thing that clinched it was the hotel.. its a 'platinum hotel' so its more expensive than normal hotels, but a lot nicer

heres a few pics:

Hope you weren't looking for something hugely different to England (except for the weather ) You'll find more Brits there than in London

It is pretty nice though, but expect to shell out some cash for food/anything. If your $$$ allows for it, try and check out the surrounding islands, because they are gorgeous. And heaps of the tours will cruise you both around for the day with free sangria.

Edit: Seriously though, the hotel looks pretty nice. Your challenge, of course, is to shag in as many different areas of that hotel as possible. Honeymoons aren't all fun and games, you know

Have fun mate

Good choice, playa d'en bossa is a great place to go. Theres are quite a few English people there, and without sounding like a snob, a better crowd of english people, there are also lots of other nationalities. Remember going when the world cup was on and watching the brazilian game, the atmosphere was fantastic.

Head up to Salinas if you get a chance.

Re Zimbabwe. Looks stunning, be a brilliant place to go. Yeah be cautious, like most places. But don't let that deter you from going to a place because of bad press.

Often the places with a bad name (largely due to the media...) are the most beautiful, and less explored places with very few tourists.

Thats an experience. Not going to the Bahamas or Dominican Republic.

Still no Disneyland I guess... Haha.
