This CD is loaded with uplifting, energetic, blood moving tracks intricately mixed with angelic perfection. From that moment on, I could feel the magik flowing through my veins while listening to the music that Tijs carefully samples and produces. His creativity allows him to develop the concepts of songs that bring life and energy to people around the world.

Ya, where did you get $37,000 in ticket sales from?

5,000 tickets were sold from what I understand. Liquified definitely made big bucks last night. How much of it was profit? I don't know. But $75,000 in costs makes it sound like there is close to $100,000 in left over revenue. Whether or not there were other costs, I don't know. But don't play some sob store about Liquified going into the red last night. Unless they do the right thing and refund around 750 tickets, I don't see how they could possibly go into the red.

Then nothing you say holds any weight and you're running completely on speculation, like everyone else.

Your argument is flawed. Until Liquified releases an official statement on what happened, and what they plan to do, it's all just speculation.

im not getting my hopes up that the press release is gong to explain everything. devin has to work with his lawyers on the press release which means its prolly gonna be a very generic press release since people are talking about suing(not devin's fault, its just the legal system we have)

TA's who know Devin personally and appreciate his work will defend him, which is to be expected. I don't know him personally, don't wish any ill on him personally, and I definitely appreciate the successful events he's organized in the past.

As a customer, I have a business relationship with Liquified: Liquified organizes the events, sends me the ads (oh, so many ads), and sells me tickets. As a customer I have the leverage to demand an apology, explanation, and refund from Liquified if things go wrong, since Liquified is the company that gave my money to NATC, empowering NATC to waste my time (assuming that the NATC management was awful; I can't be expected to know that).

Did NATC cheat Liquified by taking our money and screwing up the show? Well, that's not for me to decide. If so, I hope NATC's held accountable as any bad business ought to be, but it's understandable that the end customer would want to incentivize the promoter to book reliable venues, hire decent event staff, plan for failure, and respond quickly to problems that might arise.

On that last point, some are saying that Liquified, after having selected the venue's inadequate event staff, was in no position to control the line, forbid the "express ticket" sales, clear up the entrance bottleneck, and so on. Really? I don't know much about the event promotion business, but I'd be surprised if Atlanta's top EDM promoter had absolutely no leverage over the venue's management to address these problems during the show.

Again, not trying to insult anyone personally, but I'm still eager to read the press release tomorrow. Chances are good that I might continue to go to Liquified shows (once I receive my refund), but I do understand those who are seriously pissed. Whatever you might think of Tiesto -- I think he is overrated, but trance in Atlanta on a weekend is always welcome -- last night we expected the most massive EDM event Atlanta had seen in while. Instead it cheated hundreds of people (and, indirectly, the EDM scene) and sent one girl to the emergency room.

Reading 50 first hand accounts is speculation?

Ok.

Calamar said it best, I'm not after blood here. But if Liquified isn't going to take ownership of their event, then that's just wrong.

I had a ticket and let my friend sell it at the last minute. I'm glad, because had we got to the door with our hard tickets in hand and been asked for another $20 to be allowed in I probably would have got myself arrested. Apparently my friends that did go paid $100 to cut the line- and they weren't even will call, they had their tickets they should not have had to wait more than about 20 minutes and definitely should not have paid anything extra!

People need to realize that this does not all fall on Liquified. My understanding is that they split the cost 50/50ish with Opera to put this together. NATC is claiming that Opera was solely responsible for security. It really makes a lot of sense, when you think about it. Opera's door security is notorious for holding the line and charging extra money to get in. I refuse to go to that club, even though it's one of my favorite venues in Atlanta, except for really special shows that are worth the hassle, for precisely that reason. I hope the number of people that had problems and have reason to demand refunds is not enough to really kill the bottom line and damage the trance scene in Atlanta, but I also really hope that this will force Opera to reevaluate some of their policies and fire the corrupt employees. I'll start going there again if they do!

Actually, if it were Opera staff, I totally retract any initial shock toward hearing of this situation. It makes total sense now.

I posted this earlier on the Tiesto Tracklists forum... Can anyone help out with the tracklist from last night?

Wow!!!

First of all me and my five friends got in... after 2.5 hours of waiting in line.

We rolled in around 10:40 hoping to get in by 12. We arrived on the scene to find a MASSIVE (and I mean f'ing massive) line of THOUSANDS of people wrapped around the building. I couldn't believe my eyes and was wondering why so many people were still outside. Well I found out soon enough.

I was waaaaay at the back at first so I would just see the line move in waves every twenty minutes or so and finally after about an hour in the back the line just stopped moving for another 30 minutes. I hate being a dick but after waiting 1.5 hours my friends and I decided to roll up front and cut in the line approximately 30 feet from the door (which apparently A TON of people were doing... we felt so stupid for waiting so long to do the same). Now that sounds close but there must have been 300 people between me and that door just within those 30 feet. I think the only thing worse I've ever experienced (crowd wise) was the Love Parade in Berlin. I mean there wasn't even room for your hands to stay by your side.

We spent another hour in that front section of the line only to have patrons start going ape-shit chanting "bullshit", "what the fuck", and "refund." I mean they were getting pissed! People started banging on the windows and apparently they were letting people in 1 by 1 at the front door but not even at a constant pace. Sometimes the door would be open, sometimes it would be closed. So people from the back started pushing all of us towards the door which became a major mess as tons of smaller people were getting tossed around. I'm a 6'5" fit guy but the girls I were with I was worried for. No matter how much I tried to keep them safe at one point it was just completely uncontrollable. You just got pushed in waves towards the door, and then 5 seconds later pushed back away. It wasn't a comfortable feeling having 300 people press up against you, haha. I thought someone was going to get trampled on and possibly die. Seriously.

That went on for about 25 minutes (but seemed like 2 hours) and then my one friend who is claustrophobic stepped out of line to get some "fresh" air. At that point I had pretty much given up on the event (and I was REALLY excited for last night's event) thinking the $50 cab ride, the 6 $50 tickets, and the $50 return cab ride would all be for nothing. Well at that point (approximately 12:50) our luck changed as my friend who stepped out noticed that on the other side of the entrance (where the VIP entrance was presumably, and which also had a massive line throughout the night) was freeing up because a line of police cars had just arrived (I guess riot police? I never saw them get out of their cars). One of the staff at the VIP entrance just started yelling "get them in as fast as possible" and me and my friends literally just walked in without our tickets being checked. They only did that for about a minute but fortunately for us it was within that minute that we were able to take advantage of it all. Seriously lucky.

So at 12:50 I got in and at 1:00 Tiesto came on so it all worked out in the end. Yeah the entire line debacle put a MAJOR damper on the evening and didn't set the mood for the show but I tried my hardest to put that past me and enjoy the show.

So from what I remember here is the tracklisting. I'm pretty ashamed that I don't know more of the songs but I haven't been following his TLs recently and it was kind of nice to be able to enjoy "new" music. My friends and I left after "Find" as we were pretty sure the night was winding down and we wanted to be one of the first to get a cab back (didn't want to wind up waiting more that night). Don't know if he played anything after that (approximately 3:50 AM). Maybe someone else can confirm?

Oh and I think the show ROCKED. He played a few songs from Kaleidoscope, some techno, one or two "housey" tracks and the rest trance. There was excellent energy and there were some major bombs. I was really impressed with the track selection. The mixing was pretty good too (hey it's easy to criticize from the floor but he did some cool things with the transitions/CDJs). He didn't seem that into the show for most of the night but whatever. I think he was just concentrating quite a bit. What was kind of annoying was that for the first 5 minutes of the opener he wasn't even on stage... The track just started and after 5 minutes he finally walked out. Also he left a few times during tracks and went off stage (to pee, interact with people, I don't know). But whatever. That wasn't a huge thing but I'll point it out for the sake of the review. I don't go to the shows to stare at him all the time anyway.

I hope any other TT members that were there last night were able to get in... Last night could have turned out much worse for me and my friends and at this point I'm grateful it didn't! I hope you guys had the same fortune.

Okay that was a long ass review.... Here's the TL.

EDIT: Apparently he played for another hour after that.
